Here is a nice way to use a Clefairy or a Clefable.  When going against a
Machoke, a Magnemite or Magneton, a Chansey, or some other card that can
damage himself, Clefairy or Clefable can kill them without getting himself
hurt.  The wording on both cards says "Choose 1 of the Defending Pokemon's
attacks.  Metronome copies that attack except for its Energy costs and
anything else required to use this attack, such as discarding Energy cards.
(No matter what type the Defending Pokemon is, Cle[fairy or fable]'s type is
still Colorless.)  Now, I believe this means that not only does it do the
regular damage to the defending pokemon it also does the extra damage
(unless that is required to do the attack, please correct me if I'm wrong).
Even so Clefairy or Clefable wouldn't hurt himself.
