Why Play Farfetch’d when you can play Doduo? Ok, this is my first article, but cut me some slack. I’ve noticed so much praise of Farfetch’d, and I admit, it’s decent, but it’s not great. I’ve read articles about how it’s mandatory, but, like the title suggests, why play Farfetch’d when you can play Doduo? Let’s Compare the stats: Farfetch’d Doduo 50 HP 50 HP Elec weakness Elec Weakness Fight resist Fight Resist Retreat 1 Retreat 0 Leek Slap 1colorless Fury Attack 1colorless 30dmg, can only be used once 10dmg per dice roll (2) 50/50 chance of hitting Pot Smash 3colorless 30 dmg Now that you’ve seen the stats, you’ll say, “Well, they’re relatively equal, but Farfetch’d can do more damage.” Very True. BUT, the reason Farfetch’d is so “mandatory” is for it’s resistance to fighting. And since Doduo can most likely hit earlier than Farfetch’d, I feel it’s a better card. But what truly pushes Doduo to be the better bird is the retreat cost…. A big ‘ol goose egg! This way, when your opponent puts out a big ‘ol non-fighting Pokemon, you can just retreat good ‘ol Doduo back to your bench! Where as Mr. Farfetch’d will end up being Charizard chow. - Tostitoise.
