The newest type of deck spawned by the Jungle expansion is one of the hardest to beat strategies, the Mr Mime deck. These decks showed up at the Battles last week, and they will be around to stay, for now. I'm going to be discussing the many ways to get around this strategy, it's flaws and weaknesses. This strategy calls for a deck with 2 of the Mr Mimes, usually 2 Alakazams, a couple of Chanseys, along with slew of Pokémon Centers, Scoop Ups, and Potions. With his Pokémon Power, Puzzling Wall (as I'm told, it basically states that any attack 30 and over do nothing to him, and this won't work if he's asleep, confused, or paralyzed), he can only be damaged or affected by attacks that do 10, 20, or no damage at all. And since he's weak to psychic, he can only be hurt by 2 psychic Pokémon, Drowzee and Abra. Since most heavy damage decks (mainly Raindance and Charizards) are useless, people will have to revert to an alternative, the ever anoying status deck. These mainly grass decks are very affective against the Mime. Poison can take him down easily. Say you poison him, during that players turn, the Mimes healed. Your turn, he takes 10, do a 20 damage attack, your turns over, 10 again and he's KOed! The easiest way to KO that Mime is with Nidking. Toxic deals 20, your turns over, 20 more = 40! All in one turn! But the hard part of this idea is the Nidoking's set is weak to Psychic, which will be hard to survive more than one hit from Mr Mime. The weaknesses and flaws in this deck are there, they are just hard to find. Let's look at the main card, Mr Mime. Psychic: Pokemon No.: 122 Type: Psychic Evolution: Basic Name: Mr. Mime Level: 28 HP: 40 Weakness: Psychic Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 1 Attacks: Power: Puzzling Wall: Any attacks 30 damage or greater done to this card are prevented. Cannot be used if Mr. Mime is Asleep, Confused or Paralyzed. [1P] Meditate (10+) Does 10 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on defender. Ok, the first flaw noticed by anyone is the low 40HP. Even though 10 and 20 attacks do anything to him, he's almost KOed by any attack that touches him. If something happens where he can't be healed, he won't last very long. Another weakness is his attack. Don't get me wrong, he has a great attack! Meditate worked great with Jynx. Meditate is a powerful attack, but it does only 10 on a fresh Pokémon. Stay with me now 'cause I ain't done. If he's up against a non-bird colorless Pokémon that has no damage, or just 10, 20 or 30 damage, he won't do a thing. Dragonair is especially affective in this since. Being resistant to Psychic, a 20 damage attack that removes energy, and has the ability to be in any deck will make Dragonair the Mime's worst nightmare. Many other cards are affective and self-explanetory. Gust of wind, ER, Super ER, Koffing, and many other status effect Pokémon. The Mr Mime transfer deck will be tough to fight, but with this knowledge you will be able to face it with confidence!
