Farfetch's is one of the best basic Pokemon out there.  You wanna know why?  
First of all, he is colorless--i.e. you can use him in any deck. Even though 
Magmar can do 30 for 2 energy, you cannot use Magamar in a non-fire deck, 
whereas you can use Farfetch'd in any deck.  Secondly, WE KNOW THAT YOU CAN 
ONLY USE POT SMASH ONCE.  For one energy that is a decent attack, BUT next 
turn throw down a double colorless on him.  And, yes, he is weak to 
electric, but when Dodrio comes out in Jungle, his Poke-power reduces all 
retreat costs by one--Fetch'd retreats for free!  Plus his resist to 
Fighting is great.  Farfetch'd roks!  That's all there is to it.
