Okay, In responding to the note from Psycho, I think differentabout Venusaur and Blastoise. Like you said, they both have 100 HP, Have a Pokémon Power, no resistence, and 1 attack.. One advantage is of Venusaur is that he has less retreat cost then Blastoise. However, I don't think that can be a real determining factor on judging who's better. Let's start out with the Pokémon BEFORE Venusaur and Blastoise. They are similar with retreat cost and both have a weakness. Squirtle has two attacks, while Bulbasaur only has one. Bulbasaur's Leech Seed takes 2 grass energies, and does 20 damage, while he gets to remove a damage counter from himself. That won't really come in handy that much, only having 40 HP. Squirtle's Bubble can paralyze an opponent to either stall time to find a Wartortle just be used for damage....which can be especially deadly if your opponent has rotten luck. also, another good time staller is the Withdraw which may prevent all damge while you try and get a Wartortle. Now, Wartortle and Ivysaur. Ivysaur has 60 HP, Wartortle has 70 (that could make the difference). Ivysaur's attacks include Vine Whip, which requires 1 grass energy and 2 colorless and takes away 30 HP. Compare that to Wartortle's which is 1 Water and 2 colorless 40 HP. Same cost of energy, but Wartortle's Bite does more damage. Ivysaur's Poison Powder. That only takes away 20 HP but can poison an opponent. This takes 3 Grass Energy, though. Plus, if a Pokémon retreats, which it should have no trouble doing as long as it has the correct cost, so that may not be that deadly . Withdraw is a good time staller, costing the same as Squirtle. So you can stall time if you need a card. Now, as for Venusaur and Blastoise. Blastoise can start his attack for only 3 energies. If you can't find a fourth energy, then you don't have to sweat with Blastoise. And if you're moaning about Blastoise needing 1 more energy to do 60 HP like Venusaur (big whoop), then you should take knowledge of Blastoise's Pokémon Power will let you place down as many Water Energies to Water Pokémon as you much as you want during your turn. People are complaining about how you can only attach it to water Pokémon. Big deal! Who else would you attach it to (maybe colorless, but still)? With Venusaur's power, you can only move grass energy to other Pokémon. Big deal! Bottom line is with the powers: Venusaur, you don't get extra energy, you just move them around. It's not really much of an advantage if you ask me. Blastoise can get rid of all those spare Water Energy cards of your hands....then you could use something like a Prof. Oak, and get MORE energies! How cool is that? And the final thing to Venusaur's disadvantage and Blastoise's advantage. What's Venusaur's weakness, and what Blastoise is best against? FIRE! Fire is the most popular type! Especially since the famous Charizard (not a big deal...) is in the Fire group! Face it, Fire is the most popular type and Venusaur is weak against fire, henceforth being wiped out. Blastoise can kill ANY fire Pokémon with ONE hit, and doesn't even have to discard energy! Venusaur can't stand up to many Fire Pokémon! Blastoise's weakness however, is electric. And electric Pokémon, how many people do you know that use electric Pokémon? Compare that to fire Pokémon! That's basically the last piece of evidence that just proves Blastoise is the superior over Venusaur! JoePikachu: JoePikachu@aol.com
