Okay so you have your deck a fire/anything deck you are trying to decide what pokemon and items to put in it. You see how much damage Charizard can do so you stick that in you see that for a common Arcannine has 100 HP, and wow that magmar sure deals out a clobering. What's this a vulpix? 2 fire energies for an attack that only does 10 damage? That sucks! And you have to flip a coin to see weather it is confused. Well let me tell you it doesn't suck! Sure vulpix might not have the all out there attacks that do 30 or 40 hp but if you put out a vulpix and confuse the pokemon and they hurt themselves then you are closer to killing them. And then if you draw the magestic Ninetails!!!! Now the first thing that makes ninetails good is that it is only a stage one. This means you don't have to sit drawing cards hoping to get through three pokemon two stages to get the one you want. It is easy to power up and get out. I wouldn't recomend putting out a vulpix for too long but stocking one up on the bench is a great idea. Now ninetails itself only has eighty HP but let's look at it's attacks. First attack does no damage but can operate with 2 colerless energy. .This attack can completly replace a trainer card. Gust of wind is now out of your deck. You simply don't need it. The next attack does 80 damage. And you only have to discard one energy. THis is almost as good as fire spin which does 100 damage but you have to discard 2 energy and it is a stage 2 pokemon! Now let's look at how ninetails can work in a game. Your Prize cards left-2 your opponents left-1 You have a ninetails active with 3 fire energy on it. Your opponent has out a dewgong with 3 energy and has a charmeleon with 2 energy on it. they are clearly trying to evolve it. It is your turn. You put one fire energy on your Ninetails and then you use fire blast. This kills the dewgong in one hit. Your opponent puts out charmeleon and puts an energy under it. They evovle it into Charizard. They need one more energy to attack you killing Ninetails. You use lure and bring out a wartortle with no energy under it. Your opponents turn they could put an energy under their wartortle and retreat it but that would be pointless because you could use lure again so they end there turn. You put an energy under ninetails and use fireblast and win the game!!! So now you can see why I like ninetails. Try him out in your next fire deck.
