These comments also apply to Clefairy Doll.  At first, I thought these cards
rather useless, however I found out the hidden value to Mysterious Fossil at
Gym Leader day at our local comic store.  The Gym Leader was playing with an
American/Japanese mixed deck.  I chose to lead with Mysterious Fossil as my
beginning active Pokemon.  He had a version of Mew (I think).  This Mew's
attack was to do 10 points of damage for every energy card attached to the
defending Pokemon.  Of course, there was no energy on Mysterious Fossil, nor
did I add any.  As my Mysterious Fossil sat there, I was able to build up my
bench into a very strong arsenal, and he still could get no one but Mew out
on his side.  As a delaying tactic, it was a lifesaver!

The other nice thing is that letting your opponent take out Mysterious
Fossil or Clefairy Doll doesn't give them a prize.  That one or two rounds
might be enough to get that card you need to turn the tide in the game.

Mysterious Fossil is also great because you can go three different
directions with evolutions:  Aerodactyl, Omastar, or Kabuto.  It will fit
well into almost any deck!

That's my two cents worth.
