Once upon a time, I loved Hitmonlee. He was one of my favorite Pokemon, and when I found out that he'd be coming in Fossil, I was jumping up and down. I ran out to buy a magazine that had the translation for him, looked at his card, and smiled. Well, that was then and this is now. As many of you know, Apprentice allows you to play with Fossil and other Japanese cards. Well, Hitmonlee's true colors were revealed when I playtested him. First, he has lousy attacks. They require the SAME TYPE of energy, which means he'll suck like hell in a multi-colored deck, even if it's only 2 colors! Also, 60 HP may not seem like a terrible drawback, but with Wigglytuff and Scyther running around dishing out 60 damage like it was nothing, it's not as good as it seems. The one retreat cost is nice, but not enough to overcome all of the other drawbacks. Like, mainly, his attacks. I thought there were good at first, too, I'll say, but now I don't. He takes 3 energy to even hurt the Active Pokemon that's whooping on him, and it all has to be of the SAME TYPE!! Talk about inflexible! Kadabra and Dewgong can do 50 for three Energy and they have some colorless footholds, but not Hitmonlee. Hitmonlee's first attack seemed great to me, too, but once again I was thoroughly disappointed. I am sorry, but to everyone who was looking forward to Hitmonlee like I was, he's just not that great. Oh, and also, just in case you read this article and are a bit confused, here's what Hitmonlee's card looks like: HITMONLEE (Sawamura) Basic Pokemon Fighting 60 HP 1 Retreat Weakness: Psychic Lvl. 30 Rarity: Rare-Holo Sets: Fossil [FF] Stretch Kick [Select one of your opponent's benched Pokemon and give it 20 damage, no matter what it's Weakness or Resistance is.] [FFF] High Jump Kick [50] ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
