Mmm, so obviously I enter there at a good time...eh, 9:45AM to be exact. What more should I expect than for CGB to be closed...soooo i talk to a few friends, including Monte, a YGO player who just started Pokey a couple months back, and Nate, a friend of YoungJohn06's who moved here from Ohio. Monte tells me all about the big event I missed: WizardsWorld, where I could gotten a TON of free crud from just about every game imaginable, Pokemon included. Oh well =/

Sooo, I get there, chill, and put up a bunch of seats 'cause I'm coo like dat. Eventually, the whole gang comes in: Ryan Soles (Evilcacturne666), Clay (~Blaziking~), Team Cook, Jordan (Whicker), Matthew Fleck, and a nice assortment of others. J0i!

So here we are, just kind of sitting back, and I STILL don't know what I want to play! I have my choice of my Dragonite...or Stoise. Which to choose? Hmmm, well, for a guiltless pleasure, I went with my favorite deck: BaD Mom. I tested stoise even before Magma/Aqua was released! Might as well get something out of my solo work/testing with SuperWooper before every deck can crush it =(

Here's the list I went with:

BaD Mom, the return:

Pokemon (24):

3 Squirtle

3 Blastoise ex

3 Magnemite

4 Magneton

3 Skitty

4 Delcatty

4 Dunsparce

Trainers (19):

4 Steven's

4 TV Reporter

4 Celio

4 Rare Candy

2 Island Cave

1 Rocket's Admin (tech ;o)

Energy (17):

14 Water

3 Lightning

But yes, this blastoise list is probably one of the most consistent out there. When playing against Same Hodde (KillerBoy), his Victreebyss saw firsthand what I usually get. By turn two, I had a stoise ex, 2 magneton, and 2 delcatty already drawing cards and taking names! Wink

So, what am I about to do, but-oh wait, looks like Richard Collinsworth, the TO, wants somebody to judge the GBA tourney! Soooo, Kettler does that.

So here I am, acting all important-like. Sweet! =)

It's Nathan VS George Clay, and Clay Carney vs Michael-something. In very close matches, Michael beats Clay, and Nathan beats George with less than a second remaining! However, Nathan's entire team loses to Michael's Marowak somehow. Type advantage? o_O

So now, with all that done, I'm ready to play in the cc! =)

Round 1: VS Andrew Lobrecht (Blaze/Ray/Pidgeot/Catty)

He is new to the 15+, but ever since he got better at deckbuilding, he's really been coming along. Before the tournament, we let each other borrow cards (i got a stoise ex and 3 adv energy ^_^). OH YEAH, THE GAME!! >_<

Anyways, I start out with what looks like a bit of a waste: lone skitty. But then I notice my opening hand also has candy and catty! So I immediately begin drawing cards with e draw by turn one. His lone skitty doesn't seem to be holding up too well by next turn, when I drew about 10 cards, landing a squirtle-candy-stoise ex, along with the energy to ohko. With this pretty nice situation, I'm able to build up more and more, and, despite his efforts to stop me, the stoise rush was too much. Eventually he sends up ray, and gets me down in damage. However, I retreat for catty, ton a couple times, and mass attach for the win. GG Andrew

Round 2: VS Matthew Fleck (Drag/Trode)

He came along with Jordan, and this was (I think) his first time in TX, but I met him at worlds. I got setup somewhat fine, and he had an ummm...torb. I OHKO'ed it turn two, and afterwards, he was able to get stuff out much faster. He begins to build up his pokes, and is about to put me into a bind with Rocket's Sneasel ex, just ready to pound away. However, by this moment in the game, i have enough setup where I'm able to OHKO his Rocket's Sneasel ex with a ton. In turn, he ohkos that with what I think was either a trode or a nite, and then I send up a catty for the ko. With my one prize left, he concedes, being unable to pull another energy to ohko catty, as I take full advantage of colorless weakness in this matchup. GG man.

Round 3: VS Mike Cook (RayFet)

Mmmm, definitely a weird kind of deck built specifically to beat certain types. However, beforehand I noticed this interesting rogue deck, and already had a strategy in mind. Basically, his Fet made it really tough for me to steamroll with stoise like I would against blaze, so I had to stick with swarming with my other dudes. I managed to beat out one of his fets with a catty hitting away for 3 turns, and the rays followed suit. Although he was able to ko one or two of my Pokes involved in the strategy, Magneton had enough energy on my side to ohko rays. GG Mike. Too bad me and ryan cursed you Sad

Round 4: VS Jordan Dupuis (BlazeRay)

This was an awful game; we both started just...pathetically! However, with squirtle VS Chick, I had a technical advantage at the start. T1, no para. I deal 40. He succeeds on burn, and although I manage to ko his chick, he skitty swarms my dude! I have sparce and get some pokes. However, my start is still abysmal whereas Jordan's recovered, and Blaze Swarming me. I finally begin to get cards, but when I get one catty setup, i've been bexed. GG Jordan

Lunch Break! Unlike most lunch breaks, where I run across a busy highway, ebonic experts trying to make me feel confident about being a Pokemon master, or I talk with a bunch of new faces, I go get some food at the Garden Ridge snackbar, and well...that's it. Nothing surprising and fun about this time. O well.......

Round 5: VS Clay Carney (ZapDOS)

Out of all my matchups today, this was definitely the one I didn't want to face. And lo and behold, I do! He succeeds in pulling off the zapDOS, as well as a trode ex later. My first little whatever is a sacrificial lamb to Clay, until I celio for a sparce, and turn magnetons and a catty into a fully functional machine. I am now down by 3 prizes or so, and take two by ohko'ing a zapdos ex with Magneton. He, in turn, begins to rear into me with trode ex. Oye. We get to where it's 4 prizes left for me, and two left for him. I energy rain and attach as much as possible, but I'm still 10 short of OHKO'ing the Trode ex. I then play the 1 Rocket's Admin in my deck, and turn both of our 11 card hands into respectable 2 and 4. I know that any card advantage he had may have been screwed, but I know I'm equally as bad off if I don't hand an energy in this hand...so...Island Cave...Steven.........TV Reporter.....Water Energy. I dance it for the ko, and the game ends there 'cause he's unable to do jack with his benched torb. GG man

Round 6: VS Ryan Soles (Gengar/Kingdra)

Today, Ryan and I, obviously being the coolest black-and-white team ever, decided to play decks considered "screwed" in the current format, lol. Although our next game turns out to be much better, I draw just absolutely nothing, while his gengex just ohko's all of my 50 hp basics. 3 mites and 3 skitties do NO good unless you have them as evolved pokemon, lol x_x

So now, the top four consists of Me, Jordan, Ryan, and Matthew. We are all paired up accordingly. 1st seed (jordan) vs 4th (matt), and 2nd (ryan) vs 3rd (me).

Round 7: VS Ryan Soles (Gengar/Kingdra)

This is just an absolutely amazing game, decided only by a couple coin flips. We both get started off really well, me getting a ton and catty up soon, and he getting gengex and kingdra up. for a long time, we just exchange prizes, until it's down to 4-4. To clear up very important bench space to lead into the full phase of my plan, I actually rain danced a 40 hp squirtle, killing it so I might kill his Pokemon, and that he wouldn't have an advantage with the gengex. Due to this move, I'm able to effectively make it so that his attacks never deal 40 or 60 damage. So, I ko the Gengar ex with two teamed-up magnetons, and his gengex eventually killed two of my pokes, one from the prize count via Pow! Hand Extension. We're tied, and I deal 90 good damage with ton. Then, the game is decided on his reversal flip: heads. Very nice game, Soles. You've come along. =)

So I end up in third-or tied for it, lol. However, Matt challenges me to a game, which I accept. We both get setup pretty well, but the tons and my counter gym would probly get me ahead, 'though that was an okay game. So Matt and I just decided to end it, as we were both tired, lol.

In the other age divisions, Nathan wins out against Team Cook's star, Austin, and Tracy Cho finally gets a CC win after two previous attempts. In a short finals, Jordan beats out Ryan for the win. Way to go Jordan, Tracy, and Nate!

Now, for the props/slops stuff.

Props:

-Nate, for winning his first modified tourney in TX

-Jordan, for scoring his first non-prerelease win (after your insane HL draft when you were 11-14, lol =x)

-Tracy, for her success too

-Soles, Clay, Nate, Jordan, and Matt for hanging out with me. Who would have thought that I'd get along so well with a guy who called me a cheater after overkilling a Bex with a Primeape, dealing 270 damage?! o_O

-Myself, for playing a victory-capable deck. I believe it was the most consistent, and definitely most-tested decklist of the tourney, but I'm glad to see Soles and Jordan do so well that day.

Slops:

-Eh, no biggies.

So, after a good day of trading, playing, judging, and being punched to death by Nate Dalton, I was ready to go home...however, I plan to kick some major butt with my secret deck next week. Mwahahaha...

P.S.: HOLY CRAP IT'S 12:40AM?!?! I HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW!!! DARN TOURNAMENT REPORTS!!! THOSE DARN PREGNANT CHADS KEEPIN' ME UP ALL NIGHT!!! >_<
