Hall of Mirrors v. 1.0 By FlameRaven Crazy Eddie's Comics Munster, IN 9/1/01 8 participants (don't laugh, this was alot for us.) Wow. It's been a long time since I've done a deck report here. Here goes. (For anyone who cares, I'm also known as Toby Aurora/Peregrine/Chartini) Everyone last week seemed to be playing steel, and I had been using a Modified D.Plume/D.Muk deck that I just hurridly changed to Standard, and needless to say it didn't do so well (better than you'd expect, but still bad) so I decided this week to go back to my favorite color, fire! Hall of Mirrors, v. 1.0 4 Brock's Vulpix (2 50HP, 2 40 HP) 4 Brock's Ninetales 2 Ditto 2 Blaine's Ninetales 2 Quilava 2 Clefable 1 Scyther (jungle) 1 F. Magmar 3 Computer Search 3 Brock's Training Method 3 SER 4 NGR 3 Gold Berry 3 Prof. Elm 2 ItemFinder 2 Eco Gym 2 Blaine 3 GOW 3 DCE 10 Fire I really didn't expect this deck to do so well, but it actually worked quite smoothly. Sorry if I don't have much detail, I forgot many of the exact moves. Match 1 vs. Chris K. w/ Water 'not feraligatr' deck I didn't think I'd do so well, as he had a water deck, but it didn't prove to be too much of a problem. The match went on for a long time, and I was behind 5-3 on prizes, as his water pokes were tearing through my Ninetales, but I managed to get out a scyther and kill 2 woopers and a Croconaw to comeback. Scyther also took out a Magby after much sputtering and 2 Gold berries, then was killed after injuring a second Croconaw. I believe I put out Magmar and Smogged for the win. 1-0 Match 2 vs. Wayne w/ Giovanni's Machamp deck He got lots and lots of bad flips. He had a Tyrogue vs. Brock's Tales, he flipped tails for Smash Punch something like 6 or 7 turns in a row, while I powered up and killed 2 Tyrogues. He used Sabrina's Gaze, then Gambler, and then had no hand, he used Misty's Duel and won, but drew 4 Machamp and 1 other card. His bad luck continued and he lost. 2-0 Match 3 vs. Miles w/ Haymaker Poor Miles. He started with a lone sneasel and I had a Scyther and a very good hand. He attached Dark and fury swiped for 20, I went, SERed his Dark, attached a G. Berry, and played Training Method for the Vulpix, then Elmed and passed. He attached Lightning, fury swiped again for 20, I drew a clefable, evolved to Tales, Shapeshifted, retreated, attached and Beat Up for the win. Good for me but not him. 3-0 Match 4 vs. Chris H w/ Ninetales Typhlosion For some reason, I could not beat this deck, except for one practice match before the tourney. I had a great start and got an early lead, and at one point gusted 3 Base Ninetales out for kills with Clefable, then SERed his Magmar. He had one Typhlosion still on the bench that didn't seem like it could do anything...then he got it powered up and got a second Typhlosion out!! AAAH! His Typhlosions took out my poor Clefables and I couldn't get anything out to hit back. :( 3-1 Finals vs. Tony w/ Forretress Water deck He started out with Misty's Poliwag, me with my 50HP Vulpix. This looked bad. He used Bubbles, and flipped Tails. I got out a 2nd Vulpix (50 HP) and Scyther, passed. He couldn't use Bubbles and passed. I evolved, and got out Clefable, but it couldn't do anything against his Cleffas but Eeeeek. He kept getting awful hands, I got great ones. Eventually I had 3 Brock's Tales with Magmar active and poisoning babies with help from Brock's Tales Will o' the Wisp while I built up my bench. He got out a Forretress, I gusted it out, smogged for the kill, he evolved another one, Rapid Spinned once, then I retreated and killed it. Then a Wooper appeared next to his damaged Poliwag. I powered Scyther and gusted for my last prize. 4-1 Final Round vs. Chris H again. This was awful. I started with a Ditto and Vulpix vs. his Magmar and 3 Cyndaquil. He kept getting head for Smokescreen and ERing me, I got tails. Around the 3rd turn he breedered for a Typhlosion and proceeded to Flame Burst my poor energyless Brock's Tales into oblivion. :*( ::sniff:: 4-2 I did end up in 2nd place, and got a Japanese Gym Challenge pack, along with $5 in singles, which I used for a Japanese SI exeggutor, and 2 Master Balls (They didn't have any D. Jolteon). It was mostly bad hands that lost me the games (isn't it always?) but I don't think the deck was all that bad. It could use another gust, and more Clefable instead of Blaine's Tales, which I only got out once. Props/Slops Props to actually having 8 people! (Seriously. We've had tourneys with 4 people. Pathetic, I know.) Props to Shapeshifting! Yeah! (As Yaki would say, "YEAH! WOOO! DIG IT, BROTHER!" If you don't know who Yaki is, go learn to play Magi-Nation.) Props to Magi-Nation Duel for no particular reason, other than it's alot better than Pokemon. Slops to bad hands. Grrrr... >:( Slops to bad, evil, broken cards, even if I didn't run into any (It's enough to make you want to say "Ummm....No!" Another MN thing.) Slops to sneaky things like Typhlosion. (Shockwave! Woo hoo!) In case you haven't noticed, I have a little obsession with Magi-nation. Don't worry yourselves about it, ignore subliminal messages (LEARN THE GAME), just go on and enjoy your lives (GO LEARN THE GAME), just remember to ponder this question; "Tienes un pollo en tu cuarto?" ;) E-mails may be sent to ConfusedChartini@aol.com
