28 Players Participated

Hello, I decided to try something new rather than playing my same old haymaker so, after noticing most people catching on to the trainer-crazy decks I decided to counter it with something new, something I like to call Mind Games...

Pokemon (20)
2 Neo Genesis Slowpoke
2 Team Rocket Slowpoke
3 Slowking
3 Chansey
3 MP Mewtwo
2 Cleffa
2 Murkrow
3 Misty's Psyduck

Energy (25)
2 Darkness Energy
4 Rainbow Energy
4 Double Colorless Energy
15 Psychic Energy

Trainers (15)
3 Professor Elm
3 Gold Berry
3 Chaos Gym
3 Gust of Wind
3 Switch

Well, a whopping 28 players participated today. It was crazy! But anyway, lets get back to the tournament. Obviously, the point of my deck is to get out a few Slowkings with a Chaos Gym to totally prevent my opponent from doing well, anything at all.

This tournament didn't have a time limit and played 4 prizes every game except the championship, which would have 6. The winner of the tourney would have a spot on the 4 player team to play the World Champion in a Pokemon battle in hopes of getting a very rare Raikou card.

Round 1 Mind Games vs. Justin with a Koga's Muk/Dark Muk Deck
My opening hand was pretty lousy overall. I started with Cleffa and benched a Mewtwo, Slowpoke and Misty's Psyduck. He started with 2 Rocket Grimer and one Koga's Grimer as his active. I got to go first and attached to Mewtwo and decided to wait on the Eeeeeeek since I had a Slowking in my hand. I passed and then he drew and attached to his Koga's Grimer and passed. I drew then and evolved Slowpoke into Slowking, attached to Cleffa and Eeeeeeked. He then drew, attached again to Koga's Grimer and Sludge Tossed for 20 because it got passed the baby power. I drew again and felt a bit more comfortable this time because of my better hand from Eeeeek. I benched another Slowpoke, attached to Mewtwo and passed. He drew but didn't attach and he Sludge Tossed, but it failed : ). I drew, evolved my benched Slowpoke to Slowking attached to Mewtwo, and attached a Gold Berry to Mewtwo. Then I put out Chaos Gym and Psyburned for the KO. After that he couldn't do nothing because the next two turns he tried to Oak twice and failed and all I did was Psyburn my way through.
1-0

Round 2 Mind Games vs. ???? with an Electric & Water Deck
My opening was again pretty lousy. I had two of each kind of Slowpoke and a Chansey as my active. All he had was an Electabuzz, which was cool because I had 2 Double Colorless Energy in my hand, a Slowking and a Psychic Energy. I got to go first and attached to Chansey and Scrunched, Heads! He went, ENERGY REMOVAL! Dang!!! then he attached to Electabuzz and used 2 Bill to bench a Mareep and a Chinchou. He Thundershocked for tails. Then I went and evolved my Rocket Slowpoke into Slowking. I attached to Chansey and gave him a Gold Berry and Scrunched for tails, dang! Then he Thunderpunched for 30 and 10 to him. I drew and was lucky enough to find an Elm. I used it and was able to find another Double, a Slowking and a Cleffa. I benched my Cleffa and evolved my Slowpoke. I attached the Double to my Chansey and decided to Double Edge. I put out Cleffa and he put out Mareep. He attached and used Electric Current. I drew and attached to Slowking. Then I passed. He drew and evolved his Mareep into Flaffy, but didn't attach, just tried a Discharge that failed. I attached to Slowking again and passed. He drew and Discharged. It worked but he got two tails, HA. I attached to Slowking again, retreated and Mind Blasted for 30 and Confusion. He went and attached to Flaffy and Discharged but got tails on confusion and did 20 to himself. I drew and attached to my other Slowking. I Mind Blasted again for the KO. All he had left was Chinchou and I Mind Blasted twice for the KO.
2-0

Round 3 Mind Games vs. Justin (a different one) playing a Tyranitar/Psychic Deck
Well, rumor had it that this guy was just blowing everyone out of the water. Well this time I got a really good hand. Even though all I had was Rocket Slowpoke, I had a Slowking in my hand. He only had Unown D to start with. I got to go first and attached to Slowpoke and used Afternoon Nap. Then he went and passed with out attacking or attaching. He knew it was over when I used Afternoon Nap instead of Headbutt. I evolved, attached and Mind Blasted for the win, game over.
3-0

Round 4 Semi-Finals Mind Games vs. Brian with a Water/Haymaker Deck (I think)
This went a lot easier then expected. I started out with a whole bunch of Pokemon and energy. I put out a Misty's Psyduck and benched two Mewtwo. He seemed to have the exact opposite because he started with a Scyther and that was it. I got to go first again : ). I drew and attached an energy to Mewtwo and passed. He attached to his Scyther and passed. I drew and attached to Mewtwo, benched a Cleffa and passed. He drew and attached to Scyther and Slashed. I was KOed because of weakness. I put out the Cleffa and passed because I ran out of energy. He drew and was starting to get really frustrated because he couldn't find any pokemon. He Slashed and got heads, DARN. So I put out the Mewtwo with energy and someone must have answered my prayers because I drew an Elm and used it. I pulled out 4 Psychic Energy, 2 Slowking and a Gold Berry. Not much to work with, but still it gave me the energy I needed. I attached and Psyburned. He then drew and Gusted out my other Mewtwo and Slashed. I drew and didn't get anything but a Chansey. I attached to Mewtwo and passed. He drew and was REALLY steamed. He still couldn't get anything. Then he Slashed again. I drew, attached to Mewtwo, retreated and put out my other fully charged Mewtwo and Psyburned for the win. Time for the finals and a chance on the team.
4-0

Round 5 Championship Mind Games vs. ???? with a Psychic/Water Deck
To be straight up honest, I'm not sure how this guy made it this far. He was the easiest of the bunch. He started off with Squirtle and an Abra. I started off with a Chansey and Mewtwo. I put Chansey out as active and won the toss again! I attached a double to Chansey and Scrunched. I got tails but that's OK. He drew and attached to his active Squirtle and Bubbled, coin flip, Heads. I drew and attached a psychic to my Mewtwo and passed. He drew and attached a Water Energy to his Squirtle and Withdrawed for another heads. I drew and attached once again to Mewtwo and Scrunched. I got Heads. He drew and for some unknown reason he attached a water to his Abra and Withdrawed, tails. I drew and retreated my Chansey, put out Mewtwo, attached and Psyburned for the KO. He put out his Abra and just for my luck he benched a Drowzee and attached a water energy to it. He tried to Psyshock, but I pointed out you can't Psyshock with a water energy on him, so he passed. I drew a Slowpoke, attached a Double to my Chansey and Psyburned for another KO. He drew and Pounded with his Drowzee. I then drew and PSYBURNED for the win.
5-0

With that win I earned the chance to play the world champ in a pokemon battle and if I beat him, I will get a really rare Raikou card. Overall though today, I would say I got lucky because I barely one most of those battles. Oh well though, I won and a win is a win. Time for my props and slops...

Props to...
My Pikachu coin for always letting me go first
Mewtwo for Psyburning for the win in almost all of my battles
Slowking for winning that close Round 2 match
My Stepdad Allan for driving me today
Slops to...
No one, everyone was really cool today!!!
