10 people, Double Elimination

Hello readers! This is my first posting of a deck. I have played in this tournament about 6 times, and this is the first time I have won. I have a Wigglytuff deck with a feature I like to call “pseudo-stalling”. This method attempts to limit the opponent in various ways while trying to get Wiggly out. However, due to the variety of ways to block Energy Removals, my deck features no Removal Cards. Enough talking, on to the deck.

Pokemon:

Jigglypuff x 4
Wigglytuff x 3
Fossil Magmar x 4
Gligar x 4
Cleffa x 2
Total of 17

Energy:

Fighting Energy x 4
Fire Energy x 6
Double Colorless Energy x 4
Recycle Energy x 2 (all I have)
Total of 16

Trainers:

Bill x 4
Professor Oak x 3
Rocket’s Sneak Attack x 3
Nightly Garbage Run x 3
Scoop Up x 2
Computer Search x 3
Item Finder x 3
Plus Power x 3
Gold Berry x 1 (all I have)
Berry x 1 (instead of another Gold Berry)
Cinnabar City Gym x 1 (to get rid of other gyms, like Sprout Tower and Chaos Gym)
Total of 27

Results:

The format of this tournament is Double Elimination. Draws are determined at random, for each round. The bye for each round has to a designated “bye-player”. If the bye player wins, he keeps his bye. If he loses, he drops down. I strongly disagree with this….but I am not running the tournament. On to the rounds….

Round 1 vs Quilava-Gligar-Magmar

This is basically a Char deck. In this game, however, no Cyndaquill lasted longer than two turns…I had a Wiggly powered up with a full bench on turn 3….I drew my last prize about 10 turns in.

1-0

Round 2 vs Erika’s Dratini-Sneasal-Magmar

This guy is a VERY tough player….he gets Sneasels out quicker than anyone I know. I had a slow start…but in the end my Wiggly’s got the better of his 60-70 HP cards. This match reinforced my faith in Wiggly’s Domination over the beat-down decks…..one turn kills. This match was by first win against him…he still leads our tournamnent series though 2-1.

2-0

Round 3 vs Deck Similar to that in round 1 (the kid’s Mother)

This is the crappy bye round thing-in-ma-bob I talked about above. The player was the mother of the kid in round 1…not surprisingly she plays almost the same deck…but she plays Sprout Towers which are a !@#$%. Anyways, this match was in my favor as I was winning the Smog and Poison Sting Flips most of the way through…..annoyingly enough though was that my Cinnabar City Gym was my 5th prize. I still won, and was in the finals of the winners bracket…go me!

3-0

Round 4 vs Sneasel – Scyther - ???

In this match I expected to play someone else….at the end of his match he made an incredible charge drawing 5 prizes in his last 6 turns! Wow! Anyways he got two Scythers and a Sneasel….my Magmars smoked his Scythers and Wiggly blasted the Sneasel. He didn’t get very far in his deck…and so I didn’t see what else it had : ( . Anyways I won and was in the Finals for the first time ever….yeah!

4-0

Round 5 vs Unknown N – Dragonaire – Chansey

Since I was in the winner’s bracket, I went into this last match knowing I could lost and not be out. This guy scores some major originality points….his idea is perfect. Unknown N says “Whenever a colorless pokemon damages one of your pokemon, reduce that damage be 30”. He gets this Unknown out, and then Blizzard (if it fails) doesn’t do damage to his bench and Double-Edge does only 50 to Chansey. A very tough deck. Anyways we struggled back and forth…with him finally prevailing because my bench was loaded with weak pokemon.

4-1

Round 6 vs Same as Round 5

This match was much different….in my favor. His only pokemon was an Erika’s Dratini….I had Jiggly and Gligar. I went first, used a Rocket’s Sneak Attack, and made him Shuffle his Oak back into his deck. Yes! I attach a fighting and Pound for 10 (Strange Power). He attaches Double Colorless and Tail Strikes for 30. I am able to Oak twice, get a Wiggly and Double Colorless, and Do the Wave of the knockout! I win! Yes!

5-1

My first tournament win!

Props:
To a the directors for a well run tournament!
To my brother for all his advice, support, and card-loanage.
To my opponents, who were ALL good sports.
Slops:
To the Mage Knight kids, who got us kicked out of downstairs.
To the lack of air conditioners.
