Boiling Hot! - David Casper Toys 'R Us, Humble, Texas Non-DCI sanctioned Hey, all! I am here to tell you about the absolute random luck I had with this deck! See, the night before the Pokemon League meeting where I played this, I built a strong Water/Fighting Stall variant. However, I couldn't find it before I had to leave for the League. So on the way, I built this extremely lucky deck: Boiling Hot! Fire/Water Pokemon: 27 1x Entei (Stops Murkrow easily, heavy hitter) 2x Blaine's Ponyta (1 of each kind) 2x Blaine's Rapidash (The card that pulled me through) 1x Cleffa (Eeeeeeeking away) 2x Clefairy (Neo, better than that sucky Base set) 1x Clefable (Metronome can take down a Rocket's Zapdos!) 4x Goldeen (Needed for evolution) 3x Seaking (Low cost, okay damage, good HP) 2x Ponyta (Base set, needed to evolve) 2x Rapidash (Very good if used properly) 2x Rocket's Moltres (Why won't he just die? Simple. :) 3x Growlithe (Needed for evolution) 3x Arcanine (A power hitter) 2x Magmar (Fossil, a good Staller) Trainers: 13 3x Bill (Duh!) 1x Elm (A good way of drawing cards besides Cleffa) 2x Oak (I don't trust it, but I still use it) 2x Sabrina's Psychic Control (I sooo wish I had 4!!!) 3x Gust of Wind (Nail whoever you want) 2x Energy Retrieval (Another duh) Energies: 20 7x Water 13x Fire The main strategy is to use fast-attacking Pokemon, like the Brushfire deck. Once you've skimmed over your opponent with fast, light attacks, bring out the big guns: Stamp, Take Down, Protective Flame, or Fire Wall. This deck involves a lot of card drawing. Up until after the second battle, I did not have Entei or Cleffa. Instead, I had a Fossil and a Neo Magmar, until a really cool kid traded with me. Battle 1: Me vs. kid with a Sneasel variant I hadn't shuffled my deck properly, so I mulliganed twice. Eventually, I was just sending out whoever had the most chance to stand up against Sneasel's Beat Up. I did take down a Sneasel and a Rocket's Mewtwo with my Clefable, however. Overall, the kid swept through me. 0-1 Battle 2: Me vs. kid with a Grass/Psychic/Fighting deck This kid was obviously not a good deckbuilder at all. He started with a Hoppip and a Rhyhorn benched against my full lineup of 4 Magmar, Blaine's Ponyta (Lv. 10 with Agility), and Rocket's Moltres. He went first and attached to Hoppip. Psychic Energy. That alerted me to the fact that he used Psychic Pokemon . . . well, duh. He used Hop for 10. I played an Energy on Magmar. His turn. He drew, played Bill, benched a Team Rocket's Meowth and a promo Mewtwo. Hop. My turn. I played an energy and Elmed. Lucky me- Blaine's Rapidash was in my new hand. I Tail Slapped. He was down to 10, so he attached to his T.R.'s Meowth. I creamed Hoppip after he hopped on me, while attaching an Energy to my newly evolved Blaine's Rapidash. He used T.R.'s Meowth. Miraculous Comeback killed both Magmar and Meowth. He sent out Mewtwo, I sent out Blaine's Rapidash. Death and destruction ensued. I won. 1-1 Battle 3: Me vs. a nice little kid with a Lugia deck This kid was no expert on deckbuilding, either. Since I now had Entei in my deck, I was feeling more confident. Cleffa would've been good, too. I started with my lone Blaine's Ponyta against his Base set Zapdos. He told me he had 10 Pokemon, 20 Trainers, and 30 Energies in his deck. What a waste of Pokemon. With Professor Oak and Elm, I eventually had a full Bench and was Stamping away with my beloved Blaine's Rapidash. Zapdos was KOed, his Entei Bolted away, and Lugia eventually fainted. His Chansey took out a Fossil Magmar and Blaine's Rapidash, but Entei was ready on my bench. That left his lone fossil Moltres against my arsenal. Entei whupped him, winning the battle. The best part was, this was the first in several tourney battles, and I was handicapped by the Gym Leader. Basically, the Gym Leader saw how little the kid was, and let him have 4 prizes instead of 6. Hehe. I am just so happy! 2-1 (1-0 in the tourney battles) Props to: -The second kid I battled, for being really nice and trading with me after I beat him. He traded me his Hoothoot, Noctowl, Elekid, and T.R.'s Meowth!!! -Another kid I traded with. He traded me the Entei and Cleffa, along with an Item Finder and Giovanni's Machamp. -The third kid I battled, for being such a good sport after he lost. Slops to: -A really fat guy there, for using a naughty word. -That first kid who beat me, for taking advantage of a poor, uncharged Ponyta with his mean old Rocket's Mewtwo. :( Luv ya, Pojo!!!
