Standard format, no Japanese cards allowed

Greetings. Visitors of this site's Message Board may know me as
LightningAmerican, the guy who has no reason to be on there because he
wasn't on the old board. I thought this deck might be nice for an
experienced player to try, so here it is.

Darwin's Nemesis version IX (that means 9, for those who don't know)

4x Erika's Dratini
3x Aerodactyl
3x Electabuzz
3x Gligar
2x Erika's Jigglypuff
2x Cleffa
(17)
12x Lightning Energy
4x Double Colorless Energy
(16)
4x Professor Oak
4x Computer Search
4x Item Finder
4x PlusPower
3x Ecogym
3x Fossil Egg
3x Gust of Wind
2x Mysterious Fossil
(27)

Wow, has this deck ever changed since I first made it! The first one used
4 Mews for Devolution Beam and had Jynx as the main hitter (this was
before I knew about promo Mewtwo). Now, this deck is way turbo. I love
playing it. It's original (I made the first draft on paper before Fossil
was even released, when I didn't have internet access, so I didn't know
anyone had invented it before me.), and it wins.

Since 8.0, I added a Fossil Egg over a Mysterious Fossil and finally
changed the main hitter to Electabuzz...very little Fighting and a lot of
Sneasel is played in my area, so promo Mewtwo was no longer a viable
element of my deck. I'd like to use Rocket's Zapdos, but nobody who has
them will let go of them, so I use Buzz. I don't want to use Sneasel
because I have very bad luck with coins and don't particularly like having
nothing that needs basic energy. Also, I'd have to use half of my stock of
one card in my deck (Darkness) to make Beat Up work. So I think Buzz is
the most stable hitter. I could have won had I played Zappy instead...but
I'm alright.

BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT
I went into the store, and bought a booster pack. Got a holo Scizor. Not
bad. Great trade bait...maybe that's something I could get a Rocket's
Zapdos for! I don't see anything wrong with the Discovery set myself. I
kinda like it.
The owner of the store said the tournament was full. I was disappointed,
but I'm sure that some other people would come to play. The last player,
Joe, was set to come in a few minutes. But he didn't have a full-English
deck, so he couldn't play. The owner asked me if I wanted to play. I
quickly fished out a Lt. Surge's Fearow and a Kingdra from my binder (you
needed to contribute 2 English holofoils to the pot to participate) and
said, "Sure!". I thought, "Great, just like the STSQ. I'm the last person
to get in, and get a sub-.500 record." My first round match was against
Eric.

FIRST ROUND
Pyroracer (0-0) with Darwin's Nemesis vs. Eric (0-0) with lightning
beatdown

Well I didn't like the look of this at first. I started out with a
mulligan, then an Erika's Dratini and a Mysterious Fossil against a
Magnemite and an Electabuzz. He went first, and started using Thunderwave.
I Oaked and got a Double Colorless, and started Tail Striking to KO the
Magnemite in a few turns. Meanwhile, I got an Aerodactyl on my bench and
started beefing it up. He knocked out Dratini with an Electabuzz with 10
damage on it. I promoted Aerodactyl and got rid of the Electabuzz, as well
as a Lt. Surge's Voltorb and a Magnemite before a 3rd Magnemite finally
finished Aero off. I sent out Gligar for the bench-out.
Most Valuable Poké: Aerodactyl (as an attacker, no less!)

SECOND ROUND
Pyroracer (1-0) with Darwin's Nemesis against Mike (1-0) with
Wiggly/Sneasel

I know Mike from Pokégym, he's Mtanski there. I saw him play in the first
round and he played a Slowking/Metal Arcanine deck. But, he knew I would
be tougher than his first-round opponent, so he brought out his good deck.
I was stunned. I got some kills early in the game with my Erika's
Dratinis, but he got out a Chansey and powered it up while finally killing
my last Dratini with a Sneasel. He got some KOs with his Chansey and
Sneasels. He benched a Jigglypuff. He then got a Magby out, shut off
Aerodactyl's Power, then on the next turn evolved to Wigglytuff, and
started "Waving" my Pokémon goodbye. I was close to the bottom of my deck
and couldn't draw any energy, so I was prized out. Mike would face Pat
(SuperSpaceGuy on the Message Board) for the title.
Most valuable Poké: Erika's Dratini, I guess.

THIRD PLACE MATCH
Pyroracer (1-1) with Darwin's Nemesis vs. Charles (1-1) with Old School
Hay w/Sneasels

Charles is one of the better players there, but he has a bad attitude and
is rather cocky. He's very old school (he still plays Hitmonchan) and I
believe he also plays Magic. I started out with an Erika's Dratini, an
Erika's Jigglypuff and a Cleffa against his Cleffa (promo), Doduo, and
Sneasel. I had a DCE in my opening hand, so I played it to Dratini. I
started doing damage to his Sneasel and KO'd it. I drew an Oak. I got an
Electabuzz and started powering it up. He put up a Hitmonchan. It took me
to a second or third Erika's Dratini to get rid of it. I started to power
up another Electabuzz. I also started picking off Doduos with Gusts and
PlusPowers. He got a Dodrio into play, retreated for a Sneasel, and Beat
Up my Electabuzz. He had a Doduo with 4 damage counters on it on his
bench. I happened to have a Gust in my hand and 1 prize left, so I gusted
it out and killed it with Tail Strike to claim third.
Most valuable Poké: Erika's Dratini, for stalling him.

I won two booster packs...got a holo Hitmontop and a nonholo Houndour.
Mike won the tournament; I think I could have beaten Pat had someone other
than Mike been in the tournament. That's life. I'm happy with third. I
played Raichu2006, who didn't get to play, after the tournament and
picking up my winnings. I lost. Of course. I swear, the only time I can
consistently beat him is when I play Haymaker. And that got old really
quick.

It's that time of year again...time for...PROPS! AND! SLOPS!

Props to Raichu2006 for being a good sport about not being able to
compete.
Props to the holo Scizor I got in the pack.
Props to Mike (Mtanski) for giving me a free Igglybuff.
Props to Pojo and Pokégym for 0wning j00.
Props to Tom (the owner) for holding the tournament and charging low
prices for cards.
Slops to Tony for getting "the fastest exit I've ever seen," according to
Tom.
Slops to Tony for making counterfeit cards, and bad ones too.
Slops to people who bash Pokémon, you need lives!
Slops to anyone who's a bad sport about losing. I kept a cool head after
losing to Mike and Raichu2006.

Well that's all. Thanks for reading!
