Boiled version 1.5 by Erik Mebelly Friends' Hobbies and Cards Saturday, June 9th, 2001 About 40-50 participants Boiled (version 1.5) 3 Skarmory 3 Chansey 2 Cleffa 2 Aerodactyl 2 Gligar 2 Scyther 9 Fighting Energy 4 Double Colorless Energy 4 Metal Energy 3 Professor Oak 3 Computer Search 3 Gust of Wind 4 Pluspower 2 Fossil Egg 1 Mysterious Fossil 4 Gold Berry 3 Scoop Up 3 Item Finder 3 NGR Round 1 - vs. Harrington w/Steelix Deck I knew this guy from other tournaments that I've played in, he always has all of the strongest cards, and knows how to use them well, I had to watch out for him. He started with 2 Onix (Neo) and I started with Cleffa and Chansey, I got to go first. With Cleffa active, I started off slow, and used "Eeeeeek" and got a pretty good hand. He attached a DCE to his benched Onix and passed for his attack, I played a DCE to Chansey, retreated Cleffa, and then Scrunched succesfully. He evolved his benched Onix to Steelix and then attached a Metal to it. He passed again. I then used fossil egg, got heads and played Aerodactyl to the bench. after playing Skarmory, I Oaked and got another Skarmory, I gusted out Steelix, played a Gold Berry to Chansey, attached another DCE to him, and then used "Double Edge" The Gold Berry removed 40 of the damage from Chansey, so Chansey could still soak up 70 more hit points of damage. Steelix was down to 40 HP. Harrington Oaked twice during his next turn, and ended with a full bench, he had his first Onix, 2 Igglybuff, Scyther, and Rocket's Hitmonchan.he then decided to let Steelix die fighting, he used Tail Crush and did 50 to Chansey. On my next turn, I KOed us both... No more Steelix to deal with. My prize was Scyther. he kept sending Igglybuff to try and stall, but I kept Gusting out others from the bench, Rocket's Chan gave me a littl trouble, but he was no match for Scyther. I won in about 12-16 turns. Record: 1-0 Round 2 - vs. Mitchell w/Sneasel Deck If I didn't win the tourney here, Mitchell would out of the past 20 tourneys, me and him combined won about 18 of them. This was probably my toughest match. I had a bad starting hand to begin with, just one Gligar, with no energy. Mitchell got to go first, he had an active Chansey and benched Sneasel. he attached a DCE to Chansey, and "Scrunched". I knew what was coming next, so I CPU Searched for an Oak and immediately played it, I ended up with a Skarmory and Scyther, a little better, but not great... I attached a fighting energy and used "Poison Sting", unsuccessfully... he attached another DCE to Chansey, and "Edged" me, he got the first prize. I brought out Skarmory, attached a fighting energy and "Hooked Clawed" him, prize for me... He then attached a Darkness Energy to Sneasel and then Oaked, he played Sneasel, Cleffa, and Neo Pikachu to the bench before he "Fury Swiped" me for 30 damage. I attached a grass energy to Scyther, and then Gusted out Pikachu, scooped Skarmory for Scyther, and then "Swords Danced" He attached a second Darkness Energy to Sneasel and then left Pikachu for dead... BIG MISTAKE... I use Item Fider to get back the Gust, Gusted out Sneasel, and then attached a DCE to Scyther... I think you know what happens next... After that, it was all over for Mitchell, he managed to eventually KO Scyther, but a fully charged Skarmory was waiting patiently for that to happen, I got 6 prizes, he got 2... Record: 2-0 Round 3 - vs. Tyran w/Insanity Rocket's Zapdos Deck This kid had only 4 pokemon in his entire deck (4 TR Zapdos), so after he mulliganed 5 times he had just one Zapdos active, and no bench, here's how it went: I got to go first I had a Chansey active and a full bench, I attached a DCE to Chansey, and "Scrunched" successfully. He played Rocket's Training Gym, and then attached a Lightning Energy, in order to use "Plasma". On my second turn, I CPU Searched for another DCE, attached it to Chansey, and "D.Edged"... Game... Set... Match. Record: 3-0 Semi-Finals - vs. Dex w/Blaine's Charizard Deck This kid was one of the few people at the tourneys that could actually consistantly stand up against me or Mitchell, and this deck supposedly had a record of 13-1. I would have to be weary of that... He started with 2 Blaine's Charmander and an active Blaine's Vulpix (w/Tail Fan) I had Cleffa active, and Scyther benched. He got to go first, and immediately switched to one of the Charmanders, attached Fire Energy and passed. I knew what I had to do... I played a grass onto Scyther and then Oaked, I found what I needed, I used Fossil Egg, but it failed. I Item Findered to get it back, and then re-used it, BINGO! I searched my deck for Aerodactyl and played it to the bench, Dex had no hope now, he couldn't even get out Blaine's Charmeleon. I played Gligar, and then brought out Scyther and "Swords Danced" he attached another fire energy to Charmander, and "Slashed" me for 40 (he should've "Kindled") I attached a DCE to Scyther and KOed Charmander. He was eventually able to KO Scyther, but Gligar and Aerodactyl took care of everything else. Record: 4-0 Finals - vs. Kyn w/Steel Zapdos Deck Kyn had used a Steelix and Rocket's Zapdos Deck, this was going to be a fun match. He started with a benched Onix and Zapdos, and an active Cleffa. I had Gligar active and 2 benched Skarmory, he got to go first. he attached a metal energy to Onix, and then "Eeeeeeked" I used my Fossil Egg, but it wasn't successful, and he would get a Steelix on turn, I attached a Metal Energy to Skarmory, retreated Gligar, Gusted out Rocket's Zapdos, and then "Hooked Clawed" him successfully. He attached a lightning energy to Zapdos, and "Plasma-ed". I then attched a DCE to Skarmory and then Oaked. I got my Mysterious Fossil and an Aerodactyl, but most importantly, a Pluspower, I attached it to Skarmory, and then used "Steel Wing" to KO Zapdos, he brought out Steelix and attached a DCE to him. He flipped heads on the "Tail Crush" and brought me close to death. On my turn I played Aerodactyl on the fossil, and played a fighting energy on Gligar, I used "Steel Wing" and finally flipped heads on it. He played another Zapdos to his bench, and tried to KO me with Tail Crush, he flipped tails, and did no damage to me. I luckily drew an Oak and got a Gold Berry, which I played on Skarmory, and Chansey, whom I also played, I attached a grass energy to Chansey, and used Steel Wing. by this time, Kyn was thouroughly annoyed... On my next turn, Steel Wing failed, and Steelix was able to KO Skarmory, I brought out Gligar, and then drew another Oak, I switched to Chansey, attached a DCE and Gold Berry to him, and KOed Steelix, he brought out Zapdos who used "Plasma" I KOed both Zapdos, and Chansey, using another "Double-Edge" he got an Oak on his next turn, lucky for me, he didn't get a single basic pokemon, it took 3 more turns, but I finally KOed his Cleffa, to win the match Record: 5-0 That made it 3 straight tourneys that I've won, it seems that Mitchell is losing his touch... Props: All my opponents. (Fun matches!) Chansey (Double-Edge, won me a couple of matches.) Slops: The packs that I won. (Out of 12 packs, I got 1 holo. A Houndoom.) Steelix (This thing is HARD to kill!!!)
