I live in Durham, North Carolina. Not many tournaments are held here so when I was informed by my league leader that we were having a 5 Round Swiss Style tourney I was ecstatic! I quickly started building a deck around my favorite type of Pokemon--Electric! I had my deck complete in my mind when I was hit with some devastating news...Rocket's Zapdos, Sneasel, Scyther, Steelix, and Professor Elm were banned from the tourney!!! I quickly regrouped and constructed a new deck called "Live Wire" which eventually went on to win the tourney! I now present to you "Live Wire":

This deck is built around a card that I don't see being played much, Ampharos. I tested this deck before the tournament against a very good Sneasel/Rocket's Zappy/Cleffa deck. It went 4 - 0 so I decided not to make any changes for the tourney. Without further adieu here is the tournament summary. (I'm sorry if the summary is a little fuzzy. It's hard to remember everything that happens when you're so pumped!!!)

 

I should have loss this match due to the fact that almost all of my pokemon are weak to fighting, but I got a very good break. My strategy in this mach was to use Electabuzz to paralyze and stall long enough for me to build up the fighting - resistant Zapdos for the easy KO's on his Machops and Hitmon's before he had time to build up Machamp. I succeded and won the mach by his lack of bench Pokemon.

This match was quite easy. Ben was playing a traditional raindance deck with Gyrados as his support, his downfall was the fact that he only had 1 Blastoise. On top of that most of his Pokemon were weak to mine besides Gyrados. My strategy was to Ko his weak Pokemon such as Magikarp and Squirtle with Electabuzz before they had time to be evolved into their much stronger stages. Articuno became a minor problem but I settled it with Electabuzz. I succeded in this also and won the match by getting all my prizes.

This was probally the harderst match of the tourney. Both Jake's Brothe and I were undefeated and this match would probally decide the 1st place winner. He was playing a deck built around Neo2 Kabutops which is a good Pokemon. My origional strategy was to take out the mysterious fossil, but he counterd that with Fossil Egg. Then I tried to take out Kabuto but was unsuccessful. He had built up 2 Kabutops and I 2 Ampharos. He was terrorizing me with Kubutops so I took my only chance and stalled with Ampharos by paralyzing until we reached the time limit! I had 3 prizes left to his 4, therefor winning the match!

Due to points I had to face Ben agian. This time he had switched to his fire deck in order to counter mine. There's nothing much to this battle. Ben luckily got 1 of his Entei (Which should be banned from ALL tourneys) on the bench and fully energized while scratching my energyless Electabuzz to death. He then reatreated his Charmander and sent out Entei using Protective Flame making himself immortal to all attacks as well as KOing Electabuzz. I sent out Amhpharos to be slaughtered next. Entei single handedly went through a fully energized Zapdos, another Ampharos, Flaffy, and Ditto! This tactic won Ben the match and the points lead going into the Final round!

Due to points (Ben 9, Me 8) we had to battle once again to decide 1st place. After a successful match Ben used his Fire deck once again. My stratagy for this match was simple: Do everything humanly possible to win before Entei is energized! I did this successfully, but I still had to go through his 3 Typhlosions and his Charizards! I did this by attaching 2 DCE to both of my Dittos (Which I CPU Searcher for) and using Typlosion's own attacks on him. After KOing a Typhlosion and a Charmander trying to evolve I won the match as well as the tounament!!!
