This deck did very
well at the ECSTS Open Gym and after modifying it a bit,
it is a very
stubborn deck.
1st round vs. Joel (Grass/Steel)
The rounds only
had 30 minutes to play.  Our first match lasted about 20+
minutes.
His Scizors and Sneasels did adequate damage and Magby kept my
Steelix
at bay.  However, my coin flips were in my favor.  Unfortunately,
second match only lasted 5 minutes because of the time limit.  Since he
drew
two of his prizes and I drew none, he won the second match.  Third
match was
a Sudden Death Match and needless to say, my Onix was knicked out
by his
Scyther by fourth turn.
Record:  1-2
2nd round vs.
"Pichu" (Electric/Dark/Psychic)
The first and third matches I won with
the help of Mr. Steelix.  However,
second match I lost by third turn
because of Sneasel's Fury Swipes vs.
Skarmory(little brother).  I
mostly had to worry about Rocket's Zapdos and
Slowking didn't bother me at
all.
Record:  3-3
3rd round vs. John Chimento (Johnny Blaze)
"Dark Shapeshift" (Dark/Fire)
Prepare for alot of reading!  Here we
go:
This was the last round of the tournament, so it wasn't timed.
 Good thing
to, because we battled for about an hour with our games.
 First game, we got
our heavy hitters up and running, me with my
Steelix and him with Brock's
Ninetales Shapeshifted to Holo Espeon with
Feint Attack.  When the smoke
cleared on that clash, Steelix was still
standing.  However, another
Ninetales came up and this time, it
Shapeshifted to Houndoom!  Both pokemon
clashed and Steelix hit the
dirt.  Another Steelix came up and put Houndoom
out of commission.
Yet, another Ninetales emerged and this time became
Tyranitar.
Because he used all his Dark on  the first two Ninetales, the
only attack John could use was Slam.  However, sine Steelix had three
Metal
Energys on it, Slam was basically neutralized and it wasn't long after
I won
the first game.
The second match was shorter than the first
because Steelix with 3 Metal
Energies on it was ruling the table.
Alos, for the first five turns of the
game, John could not pull any
energy from his deck.  Finally, he got a Cleffa
and Eeeeeeeked to help
with his problem.  Soon, Brock's Ninetales made a
appearance and
Shapeshifted to Tyranitar.  Tyranitar's Trample attack was
doing 40 a
turn to Steelix.  Also, John had Unown D out which protects his
pokemon
against the secondary effect of Tyranitar's Trample attack.  However,
this isn't as important as what was happening on my bench.  I had my
Donphan
loaded with 60 damage by the time the second Trample attack was
over.  On my
turn, Tyranitar had 40 damage on it and the only way I
could've knocked it
out was to retreat Steelix and use Donphan's Flail
Attack which did 60 damage
and knocked out the dark pokemon.  After
that, John immediately forfeited to
me because of how the outcome of the
game was going to happen.  It was a hard
fought round and I'm glad to
have placed second in this tournament.
Record:  5-3 (second place)
Not bad for someone who just recovered from one hell of a weekend in
Secaucus!
Thanks for listening, hope it wasn't too much for you.
