The strategy of this deck is do utilize status effects.  Get oddish up first to poison.  Build up Dark gloom on the bench and use his pokemon power POLLEN STENCH to confuse the daylights out of your opponent.  Once you have a well built bench slam a chaos gym or evolve into Dark Vileplume as soon as you can to disrupt your opponents trainers.

Round 1 vs weedle deck

We flip he wins.  He starts out with weedle and I start out with TR oddish.  He lays down a grimer and two more weedles on his bench.  He hits me for 10 and no poison.  My turn I lay down a ditto and Rockets Scyther on my bench. Agh!  No energies!  I put him to sleep and he flips and wakes up.  He took 10 from poison.  His turn draws and lays kakuna on the weedle in back and attaches an energy.  He his me for 10 and poison.  He takes poison only ten left on him.  I draw lay on grass energy on rockets scyther and say go.  Weedle is knocked due to poison.  He bring out kakuna and adds energy and knocks me out.  I put Rockets Scyther up attach an energy and do shadow images.

His turn he put an energy on kakuna and does poison powder for poison and 20.  He does not hit me for 20, but gets the poison in.  My turn I have one grass energy and drew chaos gym I lay down the grass on Rockets scyther to make a total of three.  Blinding scythe for 40! DOAH!  I held onto chaos gym!!!  I have 20 damage from poison on me an he draws a bill and then an oak!  With the oak he drew BEEDRILL!  Beedrill did 40 to knockout Rockets Scyther and the rest is history.

Record 0-1

Round 2 vs Dark Muk and Dark Vileplume deck

We were pretty evenly matched.  I won the coin toss.  We exchanged blows with our Rockets Scythers. It came down to who could confuse the others pokemon first.  I had two Dark glooms on the bench and a Rockets Scyther fighting with Shadow images on.  I knocked out six of his pokemon and won by taking the last prize.

Record 1-1

Round 3 vs fighting electric deck with murkrow and sneasel

I won the coin toss. I lay down oddish she lays down sneasel.  I draw I use two bills.  I get scyther, ditto, and Rockets Scyther.  I lay grass energy on oddish and poison sneasel.  Her turn she lays down the Onix that does bellow, neo Pikachu, and Hitmonchan.  She attaches a dark energy to sneasel and does fury claws for 40 damage.  I go and lay down Gligar on the bench and attach energy to ditto.  I retreat oddish and bring up ditto. Ditto does fury claws and hits for only 20.  We go back and forth until I knock out Sneasel after that I tore her pokemon up by attacking with their weaknesses.

Record 2-1

Round 4 vs Darkness and Natu evolution chain.

This round was pretty easy.  He could not get the darkness energy needed for Sneasel and Murkrow and really no other for the Natu evolutions.  I built up my bench, but I let TR Squirtle take the win on most of the pokemon.

Record 3-1

Round 5 vs same person in round three to determine age group winners.

She had beat the person I lossed to, so it was down to me and her.  I won the coin toss, but this round was no contest.  Her deck completely fell apart this time.  She started out with Hitmonchan and I started with Rockets Scyther.  Needless to say a fully powered Rockets scyther tore into her Hitmonchan and only other pokemon Onix for the win!

Record 4-1

Happy as I was with this win I was even more pleased to be facing my son in the finals for the overall age group winner!
