It was $10 dollars to enter and 1st place prize was a voucher for the Southern Islands set and a voucher for 12 booster packs of NEO Revelation. The tournament was round-robin 30 minute rounds. You played everyone once and the top 4 records advanced to the finals. In an event of a tie, the win-loss % of your opponent was calculated. It started at 1:00 p.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m. Semi-finals and finals each had an hour time limit. Of course the majority of winning decks had Sneasal in them. There were 3 Typhlosion decks out of the 11 participants. 1st match vs. Devon with The Wall deck I was thinking about paying The Wall myself but decided not too seeming that Igglybuff and Magby would seriously hurt it without the use of Lass in this format. I start with Cleffa active and Cyndaquil and Igglybuff on my bench. Devon starts with Sneasal active and Slowpoke and Onix benched. I Eeeeeeek and I get set up for next turn with Quilava and Fire energy. Devon powers up Sneasal and flips tails. I get another Fire and evolve into Quilava and Eeeeeeek again. He evolves into Slowking and attaches a second Dark to Sneasal. He knocks out my Cleffa with Beat-Up. I shut off Slowkings power with Igglybuff and Double-Gust his Slowking. Devon chooses my Quilava. I attach another Fire and Gold Berry and try to Char Slowking unsuccessfully. On his turn he Super-Scoops Slowking successfully and Beta-Up for 60 to Quilava. I Elm and get a Typhlosion and attach another Fire and knock out Sneasal. I continue to Flame Burst for the win. Record 1-0. 2nd match vs. Kelley with Tyranitar/Hitmontop deck Kelley started with Tyrogue and Larvitar benched. I start with2 Cleffa and Igglybuff. Kelley goes first and attaches fighting to Tyrogue and flips 2 heads to knock out Cleffa. I Elm to get a Cyndaquil and Sneasal benched. I then Eeeeeeek. Kelley attaches another fighting to Hitmontop and places another Larvitar on his bench. He evolves the first Larvitar into Pupitar. He flips tails on his attack. I attach Dark to Sneasal and successfully Eeeeeeek. He attaches fighting to the Pupitar and evolves his other Larvitar. He places another Tyrogue on his bench. He flips tails again on the attack. I Elm and fill my bench and attach another Dark to Sneasal. I attempt to attack and flip tails. The game went tails and tails for the next 4 turns. I finally flip heads and Beat-Up Tyrogue. He sends out Larvitar and damages my bench and active. I then proceed to Beat-Up his remaining Pokemon to win. Record 2-0 3rd match vs. Adam Smith with Steelix, Murkrow, Sneasal, and Baby Deck This match is so funny in the beginning. Adam starts with a lone Murkrow and I start with Sneasal and Cyndaquil. I attach a Fire to Sneasal and Fury Swipes for 10. He attaches a recycle to Murkrow and passes. I draw a Cleffa and then Elm. Still no Dark energies. I then promote Cleffa attach a Fire and Eeeeeeek. Adam draws nothing useful and attaches a Metal to Murkrow. This is where it gets funny. He has Murkrow out with a Metal for 6 turns and with Berries he keeps the thing alive. He finally gets a Sneasal up and running while I have the Fire Boost Typhlosion powered up. I Flame Wheel and do 20 to all our bench. He flips heads for Focus Band. He then proceeds to Beat Up and kill the remainder of my Pokes. Adam got out to such a bad start and then made the comeback to win. Record 2-1 4th match vs. Dave with Char deck Prior to the tourney starting Dave and I attempt to have a practice match. The Tourney Co-ordinator announced that no one can practice battle! I asked why and he said that he did not want people to scope out other decks? So we end up going to eat a Sub and practice battle at one of the tables at Mr. Subb. Dave says that he finished his deck at 2 in the morning and has not yet playtested it. Dave did not have Typhlosion so he relied on Char and NEO Magmar. Dave was sick of getting beat by Steelix decks so that is why he went with Fire. So to start the tourney match Dave starts with Cleffa, Magmar and Cyndaquil. He was also running Unown D. Dave was able to get up 2 Quilavas and Charred both of my Typhlosions. I was able to knock out his Quilavas but then the Char knocked out both of my Typhlosions. I won the game with Igglybuff shutting off Unown D and Sneasal Beat-Up flipping heads on the rest of his babies. Record 3-1 5th match vs. Merrill with Azmarril/Politoed deck Merrill was playing a Marril deck. Lol. I thought I was going to be in trouble with water weakness so I concentrated on keeping the babies out with Sneasal. He did knock out one of my Cyndaquils but he was not able to get Azmarril or Politoed up all game. I ended up winning with Sneasal Beat-Up. Record 4-1 6th match vs. Tim with Typhlosion Crunch deck Tim inspired me to make my Typhlosion deck after he beat my Clefable deck with his Typhlosion deck at the last tournament. Tim did not see a Typhlosion all game. I was able to get a Flame Burst Typhlosion by Turn 4 and took out all his Houndooms and Quilavas. Record 5-1 7th match vs. Ray Rufa with Meganium deck Ray is LuMaga from the message boards. I start with Magby and Cyndaquil and Sneasal benched. Ray has Hoppip and Heracross. I go first and Double-gust the Heracross. I Sputter for 20. His turn and he successfully Super-Scoops Up the Heracross. He sends out Hoppip and flips tails on Tackle. I attach a Dark to Sneasal and Sputter his Hoppip for 20. He evolves to Skiploom and flips tails on the attack. Ray does not get any drawing power and I end up winning with Sneasal Beat-Up. Record 6-1 8th match vs. Dale with Houndoom Crunch deck Dale is known as Dale Champion on the message boards. I count his deck before our match starts and he has 61 cards in his deck. I called the Tournament Co-ordinator over and he told Dale to take out a card before we begin. Next time I will count his deck during the match. Anyhow this game went back and forth with Focus Bands and Gold Berries preventing knock-outs. All I could get up and running was Flame Wheel Typhlosion. I was able to Flame Wheel twice to take 3 prizes but this weakened my bench tremendously and also gave Dale 3 prizes. Dale had 2 powered up Houndooms and took the rest of his prizes. Record 6-2 9th match vs. Ben with Typhlosion/Murkrow/Skarmory deck Ben's playing style was very slow. I let it go for a while as I compensated by attaching energy and attacking quickly. Later on that point. At one point he attempted to Mean Look Cleffa and succeeded. Luckily I was holding a Double Gust and used it on my turn. He then evolved a Quilava into the Fire Boost Typhlosion and flipped tails. He then used Hyper-Devolution Spray on it. He got a Sneasal up and running and knocked out 3 of my Pokemon. I had a Typhlosion Flame Burst and knocked out his Sneasal. The Tournament Coordinator then announced that 10 minutes was left. The prize count was 3-5 with Ben in the lead. I told Ben that he really needed to start playing faster or I will accuse him of stalling. He was taking like 3 minute turns just looking at his hand. He knew that he didn't have a chance since his remaining Pokes were Skarmory, Murkrow, and Quilava's with little energy. I was able to knock out his Skarmory and Murkrow to tie the game. By that time I had 2 powered up Sneasals with Focus Bands and the Tournament Coordinator announced that there was 5 minutes left. I knocked out 2 more of his Pokemon to have only 1 prize remaining. At that point Ben just conceded. Record 7-2 10th match vs. Nick with Meganium, Yanma, and Sneasal We started playing the match when the Tournament Coordinator said that Nick did not have a chance to make finals. Nick forfeited the match. Record 8-2 FINALS Top Spot going into finals was Adam Smith with Steelix/Sneasal 2nd place was me with Typhlosion 3rd place was Ben with Typhlosion and 4th place was Monkey Man Dave with his Char deck. The Tournament Coordinator paired up the 1st and 3rd place to battle in the semi-finals while the 2nd and 4th place finishers played off. I watched Adam and Ben during our game set-up. Adam went first and had Sneasal active. Ben only had Cleffa. Adam attaches a Dark to Sneasal and flips heads on the baby power. Adam then flips heads, tails, heads, on Fury Swipes to win the game. Semi-finals versus Dave I start with Cleffa active and Cyndaquil on the bench. My hand consists of Quilava, Typhlosion, Fire, Fire, Fire. I go first and retreat Cleffa and send out Cyndaquil and attach Fire and pass. David has Cyndaquil active and Unown D on the bench. He attaches and Fireworks for 20 with discarding. I go and draw another Fire energy. I evolve into Quilava, attach, and then Smokescreen. David attaches and flips tails for the Smokescreen. I attach another Fire and knock out his Cyndaquil with Char. All he has is the Unown D with a Focus Band. He passes. I evolve into Typhlosion and Flame Burst. He flips tails on Focus Band and I win. Record 9-2 Finals versus Adam Adam starts with Onix. I start with Cleffa and Cyndaquil. He attaches and flips tails for Screech. I Eeeeeeek and get what I need: Quilava, Fire, Fire, Fire, Typhlosion, Focus Band, and Cleffa. He does Screech again. I evolve into Quilava and attach energy. He attaches a Metal and unsuccessfully Screeches. I attach another Fire and Smokescreen Onix. He puts Sneasal on his bench and attaches Dark. He Screeches. I attach Fire and successfully Char the Onix. He flips tails and Char damage is placed. He attaches another Dark to Sneasal. I evolve into Typhlosion with Focus Band and k.o. Onix. He can only fury Swipes for 40. I Flame Burst for the win. Record 10-2 I win the tournament and receive a voucher for the Southern Islands set and also a voucher for 12 NEO Revelation boosters when they are released. 2nd place received a binder with English promo cards.
