The Original Flower Fields Creator: Noah Weiss Hobbytown USA Lincoln, NE Sunday August 5, 2001 Sixteen participants Well, to start, do not send flames to me saying how much this deck stunk. Many games, I did not get good luck. Also, my principle is to play with MY favorites (not the favorites of the public), and to play occult (unusually-played) cards. Here is the decklist: Pokémon: (37) 3 Chikorita 2 Bayleef 1 Meganium 4 Oddish 4 Gloom 4 Bellossom 3 Caterpie (N2) 2 Metapod (N2) 1 Butterfree (N2) 3 Weedle (N2) 2 Kakuna (N2) 1 Beedrill (B) 2 Cleffa (one of each type) 3 Dratini 2 Dark Dragonair 17 Grass Energy Trainer Cards: (6) 2 Super Potion 1 Potion 1 Gold Berry 1 Breeder 1 Time Capsule Round One: Cooltrainer Brett wants to battle! (Steel Chansey deck) I opened with an active Oddish and a benched Caterpie and Dratini. He had a Cleffa active with Unown N and Clefairy on the bench. This time, my lack of luck was with failure to evolve my Pokémon. After one Eeeeeeeking, he got a Chansey with a DCE and some Metal Energy. The weak attacks of my basics were unable to keep Chansey at bay, and therefore, Double-Edge plowed through the rest of my defenses. LOSE (0-1, 0 points) Round Two: Pokémon Trainer Morgan wants to battle! (Unusual Wigglytuff Deck) I started with Cleffa and he got Scyther. In a few turns, both benches were filled up. I was full of Oddish, Caterpie, and Chikorita. I managed to evolve most of my Pokémon. A few turns down the road, it was Butterfree against Wigglytuff. With Magic Dust, I confused Wigglytuff and then it attacked itself. The game continued with me trading KO's of Wigglytuffs, Scythers, and one Vileplume with my Bellossom and Butterfree. Late in the game, when TIME! was called, we were tied with prizes. He used a Petal Dance with his Vileplume against my Bellossom. He didn't do enough damage, and next turn, he failed the Confusion flip, leaving it fodder. WIN (1-1, 3 points) Round 3: Gentleman Michael wants to battle! (Psychic Power deck) This was deceiving. I thought that with my opening of Base Gastly and my opening of Oddish that it'd be the easiest win ever. I won the coinflip and Poisonpowder'd it. However, the opponent got another Gastly on bench and defensively retreated. When he returned, the Sleeping Gas failed. I Poisonpowder'd him again, and then next turn, he evolved his Gastly. To make a long story short, he got a Gengar fast and kept my Energy off with shots of Energy Removal and Super Energy Removal. The only thing that gave me a chance was that my evolutions came too late. A Butterfree quickly went down. LOSE (1-2, 3 points) Round 4: Youngster Adam wants to battle! (Poison Deck) I lead with a lone Dratini against a Rocket Grimer. This game went fast, as even though I got more Pokémon, his Sludge Punches rendered my team unconscious, as I couldn't match evolutions in my hand with ones on the board. LOSE (1-3, 3 points) Props and Slops: Props to me having so many losses (NOTE: That is not a typo. This is indeed a PROP.) Props to Jon, for having a belief against cliché'd decks. Props to Levi (my brother), for loaning me cards for this deck. Slops to Adam, for doing the "in-your-face" torture after the game. Maybe next time!
