Point-Gathering System
    Hello, this is Trainer Takeshi reporting from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico (located in the Caribbean Islands). The past couple of weeks I've been slacking off at the beach doing some surfing (I can't win every time: I'd be wrong not to give anyone else a chance to win). I usually play a modified Hot Jalepeneo Potpourri that was created by Scott Gerhardt, but this week is an exception. Yup, today its Commons and Uncommons week. Were using the point gathering system to make the game last longer and because some people forgot its commons and uncommons week so only about 15 were allowed to participate. Others just played scrimmage against some other guys. First I would like to thank my friend Donato (Donato's Son) for lending me some of the new Team Rocket cards. I guess when both the owner of the store and his son both have the same name its hard to tell them apart in this report. Next week (or the week after that), Hot Jalepeneo will return.......

    I'm actually using a loophole (a mistake in the rule) to my advantage. You know that Mewtwo is just plain the best, yet it isn't a rare. Since it's not a rare, this allows me to use it. I just wish I could have thought of that earlier. I've decided to include some Wild Duck Pokémon while the mantis Pokémon takes a nice day of in the comfort of my binder (also because I don't expect to see Piakchus/Voltorbs and I expect a lot of Machops). I've included Mr. Fuji for 2 reasons; one is that I can't have Scoop Ups and two I got 4 Proffesor Oaks. This allows me to put in some overabsorbed Mewtwos back in to prevent myself from decking. I know Donato is using my Psy-Agility deck (yes I built it) since Donato isn't exactly "Mr. Deck-expert." By the way it's 3-points for a win and 1-for a loss. There are 4 games for each person.

Strange Sponge VS Ron with "Machop's Raging Rage"
    Deck Look: As I walk into the tourney room who knew I would face Ron first. I decide to put my laptop away ahead of time to save time. This way he won't have to ask/demand the judge to tell me to put my laptop away. I hate this kid. These are the kind of people that take the "fun" out of games such as Pokémon TCG. He is such a bad sport. This deck obviosly has Machops combined with a Pokémon with the Rage move. I expect Dodrio becuase of the line is real solid. Then again this is Ron I'm talking about..........he's no exactly the smatest person IMHO. By the way, "Raging Rage?".....what kind of a name is that.
    I don't remember my hand except there was an Oak, Gastly and Magmar along with energy, but I remember I opened with Gastly and he opened with Doduo and benches a Machop. I start by benching all my Pokémon and Licking him for 10+par. He powers the bird and lets me go. I retreat, Oak, power up my Farfetch'd and lick with par again. He Bills twice and beches another Machop. Then he attaches a DCE to Doduo, evolves and Rages me for 30. I bench a Mewtwo, Oak, removal the DCE and promote Mewtwo to Absorb. He removals me once and plays a Recycle (fliping heads). He grabs a Removal and places it on the top of his deck. He powers up a newly placed Rocket Eevee and retreats (promoting his Eevee). I just retreat and Pot Smash+Plus Power  KOing his Eevee. This game is a little slow. I get a major prize advantage. He only manages to get one prize during the entire game. Upon drawing my last card I get my 6th KO. I had a Gambler in my hand though. I'm soooooo lucky! Then he blames me for cheating. What a LIAR!

Strange Sponge VS Jennifer with "A Mono-Fire Deck"
    Deck look: This is the girl that played that Mono-Grass deck a while ago. Good thing I figured out what her name is. Jen is one of the most worthy competitors I've faced in a while that doesn't use a deck desighned by me (like Donato). Anyway its a Mono-fire deck containg the Charmander/Charmeleon line without the Charizard, Fossil Magmar, and some wild duck Pokémon for back up (I guess we both have the same taste in Pokémon). I pull out my laptop and on to the match....
    I get a half decent hand of Nightly Garbage Run, Gust of Wind, 2 Farfeche'd, a Bill, Fuji, and Oak. She opens with a Charmander while benching another and a Fossil Magmar, attaches energy and scraches my Farfetche'd for 10. I Draw another Oak and Bill for 2 Fire energy. After attaching I just Leek Slap with a heads. She just Bills 3 times, benches a Rocket Eevee and embers my poor duck. I just reteat and Fuji him back and promote my other Farfetch'd to Leek Slap after an Oak (with another heads). I gain an advantage by stealing a prize from her. This sets her back a step and I've already drawn a prize. She smokescreens my Farfech'd, but I can't attack anyway. She evolved a Eevee in to a Dark Flareon. This looks like bad news for me until my turn starts. I guess luck is still on my side because a draw a Mewtwo and I already have a Plus Power in my hand. I just need to get a Gust of Wind somehow. About 6 turns later, prizes are 2-3 in my favor and I get my Gust of Wind. I removal her Charmeleon's DCE and let my Mewtwo absorb. She just retreated and Pot Smashed me with her 3rd Farfetch'd. I just KOed the energyless Flareon with a Gust and a nice Psy Burn+Plus Power. Remember that Farfeche'd I was talking about a second ago? It turns out I drew another Gust of Wind (my last one) and I just baked it on turm 2 with a Magmar. She kindly shake hands and she gives me a nice smile and says, "Good game William, but remember luck is a master to no-one." I think she got that from a TV show or something. Anyway, she looked over my shoulder the next match while waiter for her next oppenent to finish up.

Strange Sponge VS Ryan with "The P.P.A.C."
    Deck Look: So far Eric seems to be having some luck since he faced 2 Machop Decks against his wierd bird deck. Donato is still undefeated with MY Agility Deck and Jennifer only has one defeat brought on to her by yours truely. I don't know whats happening with eveyone else. Anyway "P.P.A.C." stands for Poison, Paralyzed, Asleep, Confused. Its a status deck, not bad. Donato told me he's good if he can reach his high potential, but hey, I'm better if I can reach my highest potential. I just know this deck is full of Pokémon that can "P.P.A.C." me. Grass is the color of status so if I'm right I got an advantage (Magmar+Mewtwo).
    He starts, I open with Mewtwo since I also got an Oak in my hand along with some energy and a Farfetch'd. He opens with a misprinted not looking up the girls skirt Rocket Grimer and puts me to sleep with his "Poison Powder." Anyway I wake up and attach a Psychic and Oak twice on my first turn to Absorb my own energy. He benches another Grimer, energizes it and puts me to Sleep and this time it works. I just power up my Farfatch'd a bit and pass and don't wake up. He evolves his benched Grimer into a Dark Muk, energizes his grimer and starts to "Sticky Hands" me for 10. I wake up this time and KO his Grimer. He benches a Doduo and I guess Dodrio isn't far behind. He then Removals me and sends out Dark Muk. Lucky for him I dadn't have any energy so I'm forced to Absorb. He doesn't have any energy either, but he removals me again. Now I need to absorb again. He starts powering his Dodrio for come odd reason and lets me go after removaling me a 3rd time. I draw a Fire Energy and Jennifer gives me a nice "woohoo" cheer. I KO that Dark Muk and he Oaks, attaches a DCE and Rages me for 10+2Plus Power. I have bakc up on the bench so I just Fuji Mewtwo back in after absorbing and I Smokescreen him with my Magmar. He hits me for 20 and playes Challenge! For some laughs I accept. I fill my bench with 4 more Mewtwo and him with Doduo and more Grimers. My 4 Mewtwo eats his Pokémon and he Decks and is Benched out at the same time! Thats the first time I've ever done that!

Strange Sponge VS "little kid who didn't want to tell me his name" with "Mystic Colors"
    Deck Look: This is Chris' little brother who is new to the enviroment. I'd ask Chris what his name was, but he was no where to be found. Then I found out he was at home, sick with the flu. Mystic Colors is one of Chris' decks. I think this was Chris's brother's first time here. Then when he said, "Prepare to lose." I knew this was his first time. The deck is a colorless deck with Pokémon that are not colorless htat have colorless attacks. Confusing right? In other words its a rainbow deck. This deck abuses DCE, Potion Energy, and Full Heal Energy. I know beating him will make me feel bad so I'll try to make a good game for both him and me.
    I get a hand of Magmar, Mewtwo, 2 Bills, a Gust of Wind, a Garbage Run, and a DCE. I open with Mewtwo and him with a Fossil Grimer using Nasty Goo for 10+Par. I Bill for 4 Energy (3 Fire 1Psy) and start powering Magmar because I don't wanna be cruel yet. I just get annoyed when he Paralyzes me for the 3rd time in a row. He has a half powered Charmeleon on his bench and me a lousy Magmar. I gotta stall. I Oak next turn and bech another Mewtwo and start powering that up. I take a deep look at my Mr. Fuji and let my Mewtwo get KOed because I'm a good sport (unlike Ron) and I KO that Gimer with my Mewtwo and he Slashes me and I burn him back. He KOs me with Slash+2Plus Powers (not bad for a little kid), but I KO his Charmeleon with a Plus Power. He is out of basics, but I ask him if he has any in hand (I'm to nice a guy to let him lose like that) and sure enough he benches a Charmander and scraches me for 10 and I Smokescreen him (he asks me why I didn't use Smog though). He Potion energys his Charmander and evolves, but I tell him if he's sure he wants to do that and I explained why he shouldn't so he took it back, removals, and scraches me. I Smog him after attaching and he gives up saying I'm going to win and I'm just being nice (I guess I shouldn't have put down all the Mewtwos and Wild Ducks). What a great kid. He's going to be a great trainer someday. Jennifer tells me how sweet I am to do all that stuff for that little kid and then asks me why didn't I do that for her. I just smiled and said,"because your a better trainer."

Tie Breaker Round
Strange Sponge VS Donato with "Birds of Agility"
    Deck Look: Once again, that is my deck Donato is using. He just had to provide all the cards. Other tie beaking rounds were issued since Donato and me both have 12/12 points. I want some revenge for beaking my winning streak. Tie Breaker rounds are like any other rounds excep we decide how many out of 6 prizes. We agees on 3 Prizes each. This deck is Spearow line + the Rapidach Line backed up with some Magmars and Wild Duck Pokémon.
    To make the story a bit shortetr, I Oak and absorbed on the first turn. Then I proceded to rip through peaking Spearows, kicking horses, slaping Ducks, and smoking ummmmm..............Magmars with 3 Mewtwos. I had some other benchedPokémon, but didn't fell the need to use them. What a match! It was clear I had the upper edge in the beggining, but he still put up a good fight. Then Jen told me why I didn't go easy on him. Now that I got my revenge I don't fell as good as I should. Jenny then went on to fight her tie breaking matches

    A lesson well learnt today. Donato congratulated me on the discovery of the loophole (so did everyone else).I went on to be first place followed be Donato in second and Jenny as a honorable mention in third. I got $15 in credit, Donato gets $10 in cash (its his dad's store) and Jenny gets some recognition. Everyone is happy (except probably Ron). I also know there is a proper name for the point gathering system. I just don't remember what it is.
