Greetings, I am Nate Britton, and I am writing about a
tournament that was held
by B.C.Collectables in Danville, Illinios, on 5-13-00. The deck I
played is a
energy denial haymaker. I have to say this my first pokemon tournament.
Magic is
my forte', but since my brother plays pokemon I decided to make a deck to play
against him. The deck list is as follows:

First prize was $60, second $30, third $20, and fourth$10.
It had 26 participants. The format was 5 round swiss, with the top 8
playing in a single elimination bracket to finish. I went 8-0, a
perfect record. Most of the names I have forgotten, sorry everyone!
Round one: Vs Venasaur/Charazard-
Haymaker is a tad fast for this matchup. His two bulbasaurs and
charmander came out first, but I had a good hand with two Hitmonchan, and lots
of removal. I won by knocking out all his pokemon, without him ever
having more than one energy. His poor draw was the most deciding factor.
Round 2: Vs Haymaker:
My continued energy removal stopped him from ever getting a pokemon
powered up. I drew 6 prizes to none.
Round 3: Vs Mr. Mime/Alakazam
His third turn Alakazam shut my deck down completely, but I had a great play.
I scooped up an active Htinmonchan, gusted his Alakazam up, played a second
double colourless enegery on my now-active Chansey and double-edged it off.
Then my Hitmonchan Jabbed his Mr. Mimes
to death.
Round 4: Vs Grass/??? Not sure, she had a few low grass pokemon
out,
but I Special Punched them off before I saw the deck.
Round 5: Vs WiggglyWave:
This deck was played by Jon Jonas. It abused Fossil Magmar, Hitmonchan,
and
Wigglytuff. This was the closes match I had, his pokemon had an
advantage over
mine, with his Magmars killing my Scythers, and his Scythers stopping my
Hitmonchan. I played early bills, Oaks, and had such massive removal
that I
barely held him off. After two item finders for Super Energy Removal I
had his
pokemon stripped. I only had 11 cards left, but I had an active, fully
powered
up Hitmonchan and 2 full Scythers.
Single elimination round 1: Lightning/??? ,
I destroyed the Electrabuzzes quickly with early removal and scythers, he got
a poor draw that never had a chance.
Single elimination round 2 Vs ???
Not sure what he was playing, he had a single pokemon with 40 Hp, I killed it
second turn with a Hitmonchan. He had a good deck though, to have made
it that far. I had agreat draw, playing my entire hand tunr 2,
then oaking.
Single elimination round 3: Vs Jon Jonas again.
We agreed to split the first and second place prize,getting us both $45, as
long as I got first place. That's it, so good day!
