Hi! KarateKid13 here! I'm getting really good at the pokemon TCG, and
i've managed to siphon all of my skill and brainpower into 1 deck. THE
BUZZAPDOS DECK! *Starring* Base set Zapdos! *and* Base set Electrode!
*Also Starring* *The Card Drawers!* Bill, Oak, Computer Search, and
Challenge!
Well, without further a-doo-doo, here is my deck report:

This deck used to have 4 'buzzes and 20 energy, but i decided to take
the buzzes out and slim down the energy. I then used the spaces to put
in 4 challenges and 4 gusts. It worked well against my little sister, of
whom is a master like myself. She uses mostly my cards in her decks, but
she truly shines at the card game. She's still too young to be in
tournaments, though.
It was a swiss-style 4-prize card tourney with a HUGE grand prize: 3
BOOSTER BOXES! And for second place, 4 theme decks. And for third place,
2 booster packs. And for 4th place, 1 booster pack. (hey, the place was
going out of business, OK?) They said that there would be 6 games per
person, and a single-elimination tournament for the 8 best players.
Well, here is the game-by-game summary:
Round 1 vs. Joe with Wiggly Haymaker (c-less/electric/fighting)
I oaked twice on my first turn, managing to get 2 voltorbs (1 active), a
zapdos (benched), and an electrode in my hand. My opponent had no
energy. Flash forward a few turns: My opponent got some energy, but i'd
thundered with a pluspower to K.O. a thundershocking electabuzz, and
gusted and thundered a jiggly for 2 prizes in 2 turns. He'd drawn a
prize because i'd buzzaped a few turns earlier, but that was a small
price to pay for a thundering zapdos! after thundering with another
pluspower and knocking out his hitmonchan, my zapdos had 70 damage on
it. I thunderbolted his other electabuzz (his last pokemon in play) for
the win.

Round 2 vs. My Friend Bryce with Poor Man's Hay (fighting/water/c-less)
This was quick and clean, like a guillotine. He went first and his
machop low kicked my lone voltorb for the win. Ouch.
1-1 (i figured that from here on, i'd have to get all wins to have a
chance at the finals.)
Round 3 vs. Zak with bad deck (electric/psychic/fighting/fire/grass)
We both had 1-1 records. What i was wondering was: How could he have won
a game to GET a 1-1 record? To make a long story short, he had a
pikachu, 2 charmanders, and a base set gastly. i k.o.ed them all with an
electrode.
2-1 (in the 10-minute break after the duel, i tought him some
deck-building strategies.)
Round 4 vs. Bianca (my ex-girlfriend) with Hit-and-run deck (psy/c-less)
What a coincedence! Matched up with my ex-girlfriend who is good at
pokemon TCG. She had a 3-0 record. I HAD to beat her. She had a very
good chance of getting to the finals. So...Guess what? She started with
a lone rocket abra! I started with a voltorb and a zapdos. I put a
pluspower on voltorb and oaked. YES! COMPUTER SEARCH! I searched for
another pluspower, attached an energy on voltorb, and attacked for 40
damage! I called first-turn k.o! YES!
3-1 (The reason she's my EX-girlfriend is 'cuz she kicked me in the
narcs too many times.)
Round 5 vs. Jamal with Rain Dance (water)
He started with a squirtle, 2 benched seels and another benched
squirtle. Me, i had an active voltorb, another one benched, and a
zapdos. He went first. He bubbled. YES! No paralysis! I used bill, and
drew bill and energy. I used another bill, and drew computer search and
electrode. Fast forward a few turns: I'd knocked out a squirtle and a
seel, and now had an electrode on the loose. He, on the other hand, had
done some expert moves to get a blastoise and a fully loaded dewgong. He
Ice beamed. YES! No paralysis! I shocked and k.o.ed his dewgong. With no
energy or card drawing, he forfeited. YES!
4-1 (He had a good deck. I told him to take out the seel line for
articunos, and put in 2 evil blastoises.)
Round 6 vs. Sarah with very potent Cleaner Deck (fire/electric)
She had a 5-0 record. I don't know why, but half the time, i'm being
matched up with people with better records than mine. We were engaged in
a long, furious game with me scooping, gusting and pluspower-ing and her
scooping, fuji-ing, and gusting. At the point where both of our decks
were getting very low, i was behind in prizes 2 to 1. When suddenly, i
discovered a great maneuver. I had a lone zapdos with 20 damage and 4
energies, and she had an active ninetales with 3 energies and a benched
growlithe with no energy. I figured out that there were still 2
pluspowers in my deck, and i was holding 2 bills for a rainy day. I
counted the cards in my deck. There were 6 cards. I used both bills.
YES! O YES! I drew both pluspowers which were clumped together. I played
both and thundered. YES! i knocked out her ninetales! She could do
nothing. I thundered her growlithe for the win. OH YEAH! This was the
closest come-from-behind win i've ever had.
5-1 (this girl was probobaly my hardest match in a LONG time. We both
made it to the finals.)
We drew papers out of a hat to see who would face who in the finals.

In tourney round 1, Sarah beat prestin, paullo beat bianca (YES!), juan
beat larry, and me? well, read this!
Quarter finals vs. Max:
About 3 turns into the game, i had buzzaped and got a zapdos running
rampant. It knocked out 3 of his pokemon before he could stop it. Then,
i gusted a pokemon my first voltorb damaged. My electrode shocked for
the win. O YEAH!

So now it was me vs. sarah, and paullo vs. juan. Paullo won against
juan. Here is the play-by-play on my match:
Semifinals vs. Sarah:
All she had was a vulpix with no card drawing. She went first. She
attached energy and said go. I had a zapdos. I searched for a voltorb. i
benched voltorb, scooped zapdos, played zapdos, oaked, attached an
energy, and attacked. She attached an energy and attacked, failing to
confuse. I attached a pluspower and attacked for the win.

So now it was me vs. paullo.
Finals vs. Paullo:
I got a zapdos going on turn 2 via a buzzap, thundered his jiggly,
pluspowered his scythers, and thunderbolted his wiggly for the win. I
was very lucky on the coin flips, i didn't damage myself at all.

In the battle for 3rd and 4th, sarah beat juan via her electabuzzes.
YES! I GOT 3 BOOSTER BOXES! 1 base set 2, 1 fossil, and 1 rocket!
I gave each of my friends a booster pack, because none of them got
prizes.
