Solarsludge-------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------A grass deck by
J.Talbott--------------------------------------------

Hi Pojo! The idea of this deck is provide some nasty status changes and cause
some serious poison damage to the enemy pokemon (especially w/Nidoking).
Pokemon with heavy attacks and a couple of useful powers are also included
for extra damage.

I attended a tournament at Wyvern Games, Worcestershire on the 20th Jan 2000
About 30 or so people showed up before starting time.

We were playing 6 prize single elimination

Round 1 vs. Craig  w/ triple charizard deck

Now this was humiliating for him. He had a deck based around 3 charizards
which he would give electric energy and should they fail then a raichu could
take their place.
I started with 2 nidorans, a nidorino, a potion, an E.R, and 2 grass energy.
He had charmander and pikachu. I went first, drew a DCE and put on the active
nidoran. Horn hazard and char is down to 20. He uses potion then scratches
me. I put down a grass and evolve into nidorino and double kick for 30, and
its down to 10. He puts down another char and evolves it, attaching an
electric to it and scratches me again. I draw a grimer, use potion, attach
another grass, and horn drill to draw a prize. He brings up pika and evolves
charmeleon attaches an electric to it and pika does nothing. I E.R. the now
ready charizard and kill pika. He attaches another electric and kills my
nidorino w/ fire spin. I now Bring foward grimer and use nasty goo to
parylyse. No matter though cuz he cant attack anyhow. He attaches a electric.
Now by luck I draw Muk (hey a rhyme!) and evove it immediately. Bye bye
energy burn! This seriously annoyes him as kill each and every poke he puts
out. Muk eventually keels over but I only have one prize left. I now bring up
a fully charged Venusaur and blow his damaged Raichu out the window!
End game.

Round 2 vs. Chris w/ non-raindance water deck

This guy was a bit weird and lacked any stategy, using a pure water deck
without blastoise and making some stupid decisions in battle.
I start w/ clefairy, kangaskhan, nidoking and 4 grass nrg. Kanga goes up
first, I attach a grass and fetch to draw another nrg. He has a Magikarp and
a Poliwag as the active. He attaches a water to poli but then evolves it into
whirl so he can't do anything!? I draw an Ivysaur (doh!), attach a grass to
fairy and fetch again. He attaches an energy and use amnesia on comet
punch!?! (I'm not complaining!) I then draw a Poke-trader and swap ivysaur
for nidorino, fetching again and charging up fairy. He attaches a water and
double slaps with 2 heads. Kanga is down to 30. I now draw a grass, and fetch
again. Kanga is then killed by poli. I bring up fairy and double slap him
back, getting 2 heads myself and killing Poli in one go. I get Nidoran for a
prize! He brings up Magikarp (w/ 1 nrg) and evolves it! so he cant attack
again (Jeez this guy is dense!) he then uses super energy removal so fairy
cant attack (but Gyarados has no energy either) I put down nidoran, and
attach a grass, pay fairies retreat and horn hazard it for 60 damage! He
attaches an energy but cant do nothing.
I draw a D.C.E, attach it to nidoran then evolve it and double kick, doing 60
more damage and killing gyarados. He has no basics now so I win.

Quarter final vs. Matt w/ chansey/water deck

Matt was using a fighting/water deck with a chansey, Machops, Poli's and
Gyaradi (no blastoise again though) He also though Porygon was a very good
card (oh dear)
I had a perfect starting hand here! 3 grass energy, 2 nidoran, a nidorino,
and a nidoking! I put one nidoran up to stall while I charge the benched one.
He goes first with a Chansey up and a magikarp on the bench. He attaches a
DCE to chansey, scrunches but gets tails. I draw a energy removal and use it
on the DCE. I attach a grass to the active nidoran and horn hazard but miss!
He attaches a fighting to magikarp and does nothing. I draw another grass and
attach it to the benched nido and then horn hazard for 30. The magikarp is
evolved to Gyarados and a water is attached, chansey does nothing. I then put
down another grass on the benched one and evolve it, I horn hazard again but
miss. He attaches another water to Gya. I draw another energy, procede to
evove to nidoking and attach the final energy to it. I then retreat nidoran
and send up nidoking, using toxic to do 40 to chansey and poisoning it. He
puts down a poliwag, evoves it and attaches energy to it. I draw a E.R. and
use it on gyarados, I then use thrash, get heads and murder chansey. He
brings up Poli attaches an energy and amnesia's toxic (doh!) I draw a gust o
wind, bring up Gya and thrash it for 80!
He attaches a water to Gya and dragon rages for 50. Nidoking procedes to kill
Gya but he brings up poli and with 2 lucky flips, kills nidoking. I bring up
Nidoran (who now has 1 energy) and horn hazard, killing poliwhirl. I win
again cuz he has no basic pokemon.

Record 3/0

Semi final vs. Peter w/ Alakazam Deck

I was scared of this battle because my deck is weak to psychic and my fears
were confirmed by the Jynx of Death and destruction. Ahem.. oh well.
Dang! I also had to mulligan and he gets 2 extra. After this I still get a
bad hand with just a single grimer...  He goes first (doh!) and has Jynx out.
He puts down an abra and evolves it attaching a psychic to jynx and slapping
me for 20 because of weakness. I draw Bulbasaur (phew) and put it down. I
attach a grass to grimer and parylyse jynx (phew). He puts a psychic on Jynx.
I draw a DCE and put it on bulbasaur. I dont parylyse Jynx this time. He puts
on another psychic uses energy removal on bulba (oh no) and meditates for 80
damage!
Bulba is now helpless, I attach a grass to bulba but cant do nothing. He
meditates for 20.
I draw potion (phew) use it, attach another grass and leech seed for 20. He
attaches a psychic to kadabra and meditates for 20. I draw a switch (doh!)
and leech seed for 20. He meditates and Bulba dies. No basics so I'm out of
the runnings...

Record 3/1

Oh well!
I got to the Semi's, so I have 7 points and there always next week, isn't
there?
