I went to the tourney with 2 other friends, Simon and James (that's not
his real name, but that's what he likes to be called). All 3 of us run
Haymakers. Simon runs Ditto/Hitmonchan/Scyther (or somethin like that) and
James runs Hitmonchan/MP Mewtwo. We all were in the 11-15 age group. We
went and stood in line for about half an hour waiting for our time cards.
We all were put in the 12:15 tourney, with deck-check starting at 11:45. We
went and organized our decks, then playtested a couple of games each. The 3
of us then went and created some cards in Misty's Challenge. I made TR's
Magikarp (Worthless Attack: 5 energies (1 of each type not counting
colorless or fire) does 10000000 damage. Flip a coin. if heads, this attack
does nothing. If tails, this attack does nothing and TR's Magikarp is now
confused :-p), Simon made Imakuni's Pikachu (Power: Pikachu doesn't like
you, so it's shocking you. Shock your self every turn. Stick a fork in an
electric socket to get the maximum!

ffect. :-) James made some weird sort of Articuno. Then we went to deck
check and all of our decks passed. We then took bathroom breaks and got in
line and waited for our tourney.
Round 1: M2Hay vs. Raindance
He had out a TR Squirtle, and I ha1 lonely Hitmonchan. However, I had 2
PlusPowers and a fighting energy. I added the energy, added the PlusPowers,
Oaked, hoping for another, but got only a Mewtwo, 5 energies, and a Scoop
Up. SO CLOSE! I jabbed for 40. He played 2 more basics (an Articuno and a
Base Squirtle). He then added a water energy to 'Cuno and passed. I then
put down a Chansey that I drew that turn, and added DCE to it. I then KOed
the TR Squirtle with Chan. He sent up his Articuno. My prize was No Removal
Gym, which I played next round. He added another energy on Base Squirtle
and passed. I retreated Hitmonchan by way of Scoop Up and added another DCE
to Chansey.I then Double-Edged his Articuno. He sent up Base Squirtle and
Bubbled, not paralyzing me. I double-edged for the win.
Between games- I found out that James and Simon had also won, so all three
of us would be moving on to round 2. When we checked our necklaces...I was
playing Simon!!!
Round 2: M2Hay vs. Simon and Ditto/Scyther/Hitmonchan
He had only 1 Chan and I had 2. I went first. My hand was: 3 Fighting
energy, 1 Psychic energy, 1 Scoop Up, 1 Item Finder, and 2 PlusPower. I
drew a Gust, added a fighting energy and jabbed for 20. He gusted out my
other Chan and Jabbed me for 20. I drew an Oak, Scooped up the Hitmonchan
that he gusted out,and added 2 pluspowers to my Chan with energy and Oaked.
I got a Computer Search in that Oak so I got another Plus and won.
Between games- James won too, so now it was only James and I in the
tourney. I met Scott Gerhardt (hi Scott! I'm that one kid you met when you
were playing your round 4 game that you won 6 prizes to 5).
Round 3- M2Hay vs. Premade deck
Before this game, this kid told me that he was 11 and had this deck premade
for him today. I don't remember too much about this game except that I got
a Mewtwo out early and he kept bringing wave after wave of weak basics
(Nidoran M., Nidoran F., Sandshrew, Clefairy, etc.) that I KO'ed with
Psyburns. I gusted out his benched Clefairy and Retreated Mewtwo and Jabbed
it for the last prize. On to round 4!
Between games- James lost this round to a Haymaker. So now it was just me.
Next round I was playing...the guy who beat James!!!
Round 4: Semifinals M2Hay vs. Haymaker
We played kind of similar hays, except he didn't use Mewtwo and used I
think Electabuzz instead. I forgot what happened, but I know that he kept
RSAing me to keep himself in the game, but he eventually ran out of RSAs. I
remember once he Item Finderer a SER (discarding 2 cards), and then used
the SER (discarding 3 more cards for a total of 5 cards discarded for a
single SER). We were tied at 2 prizes left apiece and he had 2 cards left
in his deck with me in control of the board with No Removal Gym. He
forfeited. I think he played a very close game, the best all day.
Between games: I was advancing to the finals!!!
Round 5: Finals M2Hay vs. Wigglytuff
This was one archetype I knew I would have some problems with if I met one.
This was a really nice guy, but he was kind of quiet. We started the game,
me with either a Dratini or Chansey active (I kinda forgot) and a
Hitmonchan on the bench. I had 2 Psy energies in my hand and no fighting. I
got a horrible draw, one of the reasons I lost this game and he won. He had
a Scyther active and a Jigglypuff on the bench. To make things short, he
got out Wiggly on turn 2, loaded the bench, and proceded to beat the crap
out of my Pokemon while I kept drawing Psy energies (!) and worthless
Mewtwos and Chanseys and Scythers. Eventually I Oaked, got a couple of
Fighting energy and another Hitmonchan and did 40 to Wiggly hoping he
didn't have a Plus. Guess what, he didn't! But he had an Item Finder. Bye,
Chan. The next Chan killed Wiggly but then he sent up Scyther. He stalled
for 4 or 5 more turns until he Comp. Searched for another Wiggly and I
couldn't kill this one. I stalled for 3 or!

turns with Chanseys and Mewtwos getting continuously Scooped Up, but I!
lost by losing all of my prizes in the end. I only got 2 prizes off of him.
He told me that I was the first one to get prizes off of him the whole day
0_0. Note: He had to run to the bathroom 5 minutes into the game. The judge
said that if he wasn't back in 5 minutes he would forfeit. He got back in
time. During the 4 minutes he used for a bathroom break, I had a late lunch
of a really queer tasting sandwich. He got back and we resumed play.
Ironically, before the bathroom break we were tied at 4 prizes left apiece,
and then when he got back he started really pulling away (?). I had a great
time, and got 24 boosters, Pokemon TCG for GB, a T-Shirt, and a cap. I also
got a Gold Invitation to the STS!
