About 20 participants

I had just joined the pokemon league 3 weeks ago, but I had been a collector and player for about 9 months. I knew all the rules, and how to build a deck, but I didn't know how good my skills were. This was my 2nd tournament (The Gym Heroes Pre-release being my first), but I knew I could win if I tried hard. I wanted to build a revised haymaker, using 4 pokemon, that would work. Many told me that it couldn't be done, and if it was, I didn't have the skills, but I knew I could do it. I spent a few days building it. Because it was summer, I could spend 8 hours if I needed to. I finally finished 3 days before the tournament. So, without any delay, here is my revised haymaker:

Scrap Metal

3 Hitmonchan
3 Scyther
3 Magmar(Fossil)
3 Electabuzz

3 Prof. Oak
3 Bill
3 Item Finder
3 NGR(Nightly Garbage Run)
3 GOW(Gust Of Wind)
3 Pluspowers
3 SER(Super Energy Removal)
3 Energy Removal
2 Scoop Ups

5 Fighting Energy
4 DCE(Double Colorless Energy)
5 Fire Energy
5 Electric Energy
3 Rainbow Energy

Some of my friends told me that i had too little energy for each pokemon. they also said that i shouldn't run 4 different types of pokemon. But i made it this way because Scyther can use any energy, meaning he's really doesn't count as a different
type. Also, I have 8 of each type of energy because of the rainbow energy (except for the DCE, which has 7). I had not tested this before the tournament, so i was hoping it would be good. Here's how the tournament went for me.

Round 1: Scrap Metal vs Rain-trans
I was playing one of my friends from pokemon league. He was using his Rain-trans deck, a deck that uses Blastoise and Venusaur, along with Gyarados, Misty's Seadra, and Nidoking. I personally think that this deck was bad.

I started with a good hand. i had a Hitmonchan, a Scyther, 2 fighting energy's, 1 rainbow energy and a GOW. I put Hitmonchan as my active pokemon. He started with squirtle(TR), and a Bulbasaur on his bench. I put Hitmonchan. I got to go first. i laid down a fighting energy, and jabbed. on his turn, he put a DCE on Squirtle and damaged me for 20. next turn, i drew a Pluspower. i put it down, along with a fighting energy and KO'd his Squirtle. He then put Bulbasaur as his active, drew a TR Rattata, and TR trapped me to take my rainbow energy, GOW, and a item finder i drew 1st turn.  he couldn't attack so it was my turn. i drew GOW. i used it to get his TR Rattata out and KO'd him. i drew a fire energy. Yes! i can special punch him next turn for the win if he doesn't play a basic pokemon! He ended up not getting a basic pokemon. Next turn i special punched for the win.
1-0

Round 2: Scrap Metal vs Wigglymaker
This round was easy. i had a Hitmonchan, 2 Pluspowers, a fighting energy and some trainers in my opening hand. he had a Jigglypuff as his active. I went first, and, well, i guess u know what happened. I put down the 2 Pluspowers, and jabbed for 60 damage for the win. (He was so mad he started complaining to the gym leader and making excuses)
2-0

Round 3: Scrap Metal vs Stall Maul
This battle was hard, because i was playing a 37 year old adult who had a good stall deck. it used Alakazam to move damage counters onto pokemon like Chansey and Kangaskan, and had pokemon like Tauros and Dodrio that attacked with its rage attacks.

i had a Magmar, a Scyther, 1 fire energy, i rainbow energy, and some trainers. i put Magmar out as my active. he had a Tauros as his active, and Abra, Chansey, and Doduo on his bench. he went first. He attached a DCE on his Tauros and stomped for 20. i knew that if i didn't stop either his Abra from evolving into Alakazam i would be in deep trouble. i energy removaled his Tauros and smokescreened for 10. I knew he didn't have any energy cards from the turn before because he said he needed energy (he shouldn't of done that, i probably would have changed my strategy if he didn't). He evolved his Doduo, and that was his turn. I drew a Pluspower on my next turn. Wow! i was lucky! i attached the rainbow energy to Magmar, GOW'ed out his Abra, and used Pluspower to KO it. From there on it was smooth sailing. I won all six prizes to beat him.
3-0

Round 4: Scrap Metal vs Rain-trans
This was against my friend i played in the first round. i guess his deck was as good as he said!

Things went like the first time i battled, except for the Bulbasaur, which became a Magikarp. I started with Hitmonchan. I beat his Squirtle and TR Rattata just like last time, but when it came time to beating the Magikarp, he evolved it into Gyarados. No problem though, because i retreated my Hitmonchan for Scyther (who had a rainbow energy on him), sword danced, and next turn put a DCE down for the KO and the win.
4-0

Round 4: Scrap Metal vs Zapmaker

This was the final round. Whoever won was the champion of the tournament. I was playing a haymaker deck that had Zapdos in it, along with Electabuzz, Scyther, and ditto.

I had a Hitmonchan as my starter, while he had a Scyther. i had no energy, and the cards just wasn't going my way, and i lost.
4-1

Overall
i didn't do that bad. i got 3 free booster packs. i chose 2 1st edition TR's (they still had some) and a base set (they still had those too). I got a holo Dark Blastoise, a non holo Dark Alakazam, and a Beedrill. And as for my deck, i think it did well.

Props And Slops
-Props to my friend with the Rain-trans deck for going all the way that he did with his deck
-Props to the adult for playing at his age
-Props to my good booster packs
-Slops to the Wigglymaker kid who complained to the gym leader when he lost
-Slops to the kids at the pokemon league who said that this deck could never be done.
