<editor's note:  I do not normally post such a report, but I am making an exception here.  I encourage all fans of Pojo, especially the ones in the Ballston Spa, NY area to give the people in this store a lot of grief.  People that will treat their customers like this deserve to not be frequented.  For those who want to give them grief by phone, John was nice enough to give us their phone number.  I do not normally encourage this activity, but I will make an exception in this case. -Scott>

This place holds Pokemon League on Thursday evenings during the summer and
during school week on Sunday afternoons.  Tournaments are usually Sunday and
there is an outrageous $15 dollar fee to enter!  By the name of this deck
you already figured it is to shut down Electabuzz and Scyther (metagame).
It will be a quick report and I'll tell you why after the deck listing:

Pokemon(17)
3 Base Magmar (Quick Scyther Killer)
1 Fossil Magmar
4 Rocket Diglett
2 Dark Dugtrio
3 Base Dugtrio
2 Hitmonchan
2 Hitmonlee

Energy (24)
16 fighting
8 Fire

Trainers (19)
2 Prof. Oak
2 Pokemon Trader
3 Bill
4 Plus Power
3 Super Energy Removal
3 Gust of Wind
2 CPU Search

This is a quick report because I could only play 1 game and not even finish
that because of the rude and inconsiderate Gym Leader.  Rant Mode On.  Now I
am a parent who plays the game with my 6 year old son.  We have both been
playing since the inception of Pokemon and have attended numerous leagues
and tournaments.  I feel pretty confident in knowing the rules and the
rulebook.  But this place takes the cake.  This was only our second time
there and the first time I had to explain basic rules to the Gym Leader and
parents there.  For example they were not treating status effects such as
poison and sleep after each player's turn.  They thought that poison and
sleep kicked in after the opponents turn and not immediately following the
turn that it was infected.  I even broke out the handy dandy rule book and
printed out the Q+A session of Pojo (Pojo Rocks) and brought them with me
and the Gym Leader still didnt believe me.  This is a know it all,
self-centered, narrow minded person that I have ever met.  They have been
playing the game wrong all along and didnt even appreciate the comments and
help that I offered.  Get this one,  one guy even had the nerve to say that
when I played energy removal on his Dewgong I could only remove water energy
and not DCE (Isane!)  Also the same guy was using Rocket Magikrap and used
Rapid Evolution to Base Gyrados and then tried to use an attack of Base
Gyrados on the same turn!

So this second night I paid the five dollar entry fee to a Pokemon league (
which is Insane itself figuring you only get promo cards if you pay the $30
dollar season fee).  Tournaments we go to dont even have a fee such as this
place.  on to the report:

Game 1  vs.  Todd (Father of a kid)
Todd unlike the Gym Leader and Store owner is down to earth and open minded.
Todd was playing an AeroHay deck with Lickitung, Kangaskhan, Hitmonlee,
Scyther(yes!), and Aerodactyl.  Coin flips count anywhere (even on the
floor!) which is also insane as two flips landed on my lap!  I call tails
and go first.  Diglet active and Base Magmar on bench.  Attach energy to
Diglet and Dig under for 10 to Kangiskhan.  Kangiskhan fetch.  Second energy
to Diglett and scratch for 40 to Kangiskhan.  Todd CPU searches foe
Aerodactyl and no more evos.  Kangiskhan fetch.  I draw guess what Base
Dugtrio cant use due to Aero.  Fire to Magmar and lay down Fossil Magmar.
Diglett now knocks out Kangiskhan for my 1st prize.  Todd sends Lickitung
out and Tongue Wrap for no paral.  Diglett does 40 to Lickitung.  I lay both
Hitmo siblings down.  I take out his Lickitung with Diglett for 2nd Prize.
He sends out Hitmonlee and takes out diglett.  The rest of the game went
back and forth with one prize left for me after my Magmars took out his
Scythers and three prizes left for him.  Gym leader comes and gives me my
badge book and five dollars and rudely tells me to leave.  Apparantly the
Gym Leader and store owner do not have kids of their own and were
un-empathetic when it came to my two year old son walking around the gameing
area.  Anyone with kids know that a 2 year old cannot sit still for more
than 2 minutes.  I have no idea why these guys are running a league for kids
in the first place.  Guess what? Wont be back there for anything and the
word will be out that this place is a rip off!  There having a sealded deck
tournamnet on Sunday 8/20/00 witha 15 dollar entry fee!  Their advertisement
for this was even spelled wrong with boasters (instead of boosters).  Guys
cant even spell the right way.

Props and Slops
Props to our friend Devon for winning the tourney (box of Gym Leader
boosters)on Sunday despite having to play against an adult.
Props to my kids for being good sports about being kicked out.

Slops to the Gym leader and store owner for price gouging kids and their
parents and not knowing the correct rules for gameplay.

Thanks for reading!
