Hi Pojo, my name is Max from Columbus Ohio. I thought I would send in
what my experiences with the Sponge Variant I built are. I call it The
Sinister Sponge because, well, the pokemon in it are all evil and mean
looking. Any way, in case you have not been reading the killer deck reports
lately, the original Sponge is by Scott Gerhardt. I have made a few changes
to fit my areas metagame and have been going undefeated 10-0. I suggest if
you build a Sponge, to tune it to your style and areas metagame. Here is the
deck :

The Sinister Sponge v1.3

4 Electabuzz (best basic in my opinion)
4 Movie Promo Mewtwo (note: try not to use video one, prolonged exposure to a
picture that crappy can cause bleeding of eyes ; )
2 Scyther (good basic, I prefer it to Ditto because is more reliable)
4 Bill (card advantage)
3 Professor Oak
2 Gambler (2 due to so much stall around)
4 Plus Power (10 damage may not sound great, but that adds 40 damage!)
4 Energy Removal
2 Super Energy Removal (don't add to many due to you have to discard)
2 Energy Retrieval (due to low energy count)
2 Scoop up
3 Mr. Fuji (also due to stall decks around here)
3 Computer Search
3 Gust Of Wind
2 Item finder (can be a game saver)
7 Psychic Energy
7 Electric Energy
2 Double colorless

Well, what can I say, the deck is very good. Before you people blast me with
mail about Ditto, let me say that it is a good card, but my Gym Leader
insists that Ditto does half damage. I have mainly only changed the counts of
some cards, so the stradigie is still the same. Well, here is day 1:

Match 1 Vs Lou (psy bench killer)
Well, what can I say, I came to the League with him that day and have been
trying like crazy to get him to fix his deck to a reasonably good stage, he
so far wont take my advice. He played a deck that had a count of pokemon
higher than energy and had 6 trainers (LOL). Well, the match was very easy,
he is the kind of player who will put out pokemon to sacrifice while he gets
one decent one going. I started with my usual (when possible) a scyther. he
starts with abra and crap on the bench, I go first. I switch Scyther with
Electabuzz and eventually, rip through all of his pokemon with mewtwo.
1-0

Match 2 Vs Lou (my as well get more points)
Well, it was mainly the same as above but with mewtwo out first. I had 2 psy
and a comp. search, so I discarded them and got another, attach psy to mewtwo
and absorb the 2 discarded. I then swept through him again.
2-0

Match 3 Vs kid with haymaker like deck
This kid is very deceiving, he played well but like many young players, make
up rules as they go along. In this match I thought i would try out a Mr. Mime
for a scyther. On into the match, I discover what a @$$ this kid is. He sees
my Mime and when I go to finish it he tells me since I am using a Mr. Mime, I
cant do more than 30 damage, he tells the Gym Leader but he agrees with me. I
win in the end.
3-0

I have to go then for this day, but I then am able to beat a couple of
friends later that day to extend my streak to 5-0

Week 2
Ahhhhhh, finally a tournament to play in. I feel I am going to win this
tourny but due to somebody who felt they had to steal a 10 cent gambler from
the deck, I end up decked out in the finals. I wont get in to details but I
was doing great until then well..............................it is time for
PROPS & SLOPS!
