Hiya Pojosama and friends!  This is the Goober here in Iowa with a success
story about my second place in a Mayhem tourney with, oh, 70+ dudes!  This
deck was named Spuff because, at League at Regal Comics the Wednesday before,
I was playing a match against Damon, which I won, and he retreats saying,
"Man, I hate those stupid tuff decks."  I go, "No, it's sponge."  We agrue
for a while, and I get so mad i beat his a-- down in the next game.  But It
got me thinking about a more innovative name...

Spuff:

3 Movie Mewtwo:  He is the foundation of sponge decks.  a must-have.
3 F Gastly:  Cheap, paralyzing attack, energy retrieving, and a great
evolution.  Need I say more?
3 F Haunter:  75% chance of evading attack.
3 J Jigglypuff:  Necessary for Wigglytuff.  I tried to get my hands on a CD
Jiggly, but couldn't find it.
2 Lickitung:  Stall.  Paralyzation and Confusion, with huge HP.

22 Psychic Energy
3 Double Colorless Energy  (Couldn't find a fourth.  Gues i went overboard on
trading.)

4 Computer Search:  Play a free retreat pokemon turn 1.  Drop 2 psy energy to
search for a Promo Mewtwo, retreat, attack one psy to promo mewtwo, use
energy absorption.  Sweet!
4 Gust of Wind:  I wish I could put in more.  I would have loved to kill that
Squirtle in the last round.
3 Professor Oak:  Card advantage Baby!  Also good with Sponge.
2 Bill:  See above
3 Super Energy Removal:  I couldn't resist.

It was five rounds of swiss, and then a finals of eight people.

Round 1 - Nidorama
This was an incredibly easy one.  He had two Nidoran male, and I had one
gastly.  First turn, I CPU search dropping two psychic energy to get a promo
mewtwo, retreat, and put an energy on it to energy absorp.  He puts an energy
on nidoran, tries to horn hazard but fails.  I put an energy on gastly and
psyburn.  He replaces the fallen nidoran with a fresh one and puts a female
on the bench.  Gusts out gastly, and horn hazards successfully.  I retreat
and psyburn.  He puts out his female and puts an energy on it, evolves into
Nidorina, and uses supersonic.  I'm confused.  I try to attack but it hurts
me.  He puts a nidoran male on bench and puts an energy on nidorina to use
double kick, only hits once.  I put down another gastly and retreat, putting
out gastly with no damage to use lick for paralysis.  He breeds his male,
evolves Nidorina to Nidoqueen, and puts apluspower on it to use boyfriends
for 50  Ouch.  Too bad I put a 3rd energy on Mewtwo, come out, and decimate
his forces from there on.

Round 1 - Record 1:0 - Win by lack of basic

Round 2 - Gay- I mean, Haymaker?
Too Easy.   I go first, put a psy on my promo mewtwo, oak discarding only
two psy, everything else was basic, and energy absorped.  He had to sit there
helpless with his hitmonchan awaiting my next turn.

Round 2 - Record 2:0 - Win by lack of basic

Round 3 - Pain in the ance-  I mean, Rain Dance
Geez.  It seemed easy at the time, but this one came back to haunt me.
He started with two Squirtles and an Articuno, and I only had a Jigglypuff.
I go first, Cpu Search for Promo Mewtwo, but all of them were in my prizes!
Arggghh.  So, I got an Oak instead, played a Doble colorless on Jigglypuff,
and Oaked.  Got six basic, but I didn't play any yet.  I also got one psychic
energy and I pounded.  He goes, and uses bubble with paralysis.  I draw a
wigglytuff, Yes!!  I evolve, play four basics on my bench, 2 Gastly, 1
Jigglypuff, and 1 lickitung, play a psy on Wiggly, and do the wave to draw a
prize, which turns out to be a Promo mewtwo.  He uses bubble with no
paralyze.  I play and drew a bill, which got me two psychic energy.  I waved
at the Squirtle to draw another bill.  He goes, plays an energy on articuno
and says go.  I usae the bill to draw another psy and an oak, I play a psy
and wave.  He just says he can't do a thing.  I retreat with the wigglytuff
and smoke him with mewtwo, just for fun.

Round 3 - Record 3:0  Win by lack of basic

Round 4 - Light Cross
I have yet to find out how this guy came up with this.  I was helpin
Damon out with the deck list approval and i noticed this one.  I said, "man,
this looks wierd."  It had all 7 types in it!  I went first, with my lone
jigglypuff against his hitmonchan.  I play a double colorles on jigglypuff,
and say pound and go.  He lays a fighting down and jabs for fourty.  I had
some good cards, but, seeing no other choice, I puty a psychic on jiggly,
evolved it, played an Oak, (I hate when i get three of those in one hand) I
prayed for four basic, and got them!  put em all down, and did the wave to
knock out.

Round 4 - Record 4:0  Win by lack of basic

Round 5 - Crawly Clone
This guy's deck reminded me of Matt Crawly's deck in the last tournament.
He nailed me last time with a Sponge deck against my duckmaker, but i decked
him in the prefinals and got fourth.  This time I was ready.  I went first
and retreated Gastly, CPU searched for a Promo Mewtwo, put him on bench, laid
a psy on him, played another gastly and a jigglypuff from my hand, and oaked.
I played two more basic and energy absorbed.  He couldn't do anything wqith
his promo mewtwo.  I just use psyburn for 80.
Round 5 - Record 5:0  Win by lack of basic

Prefinals - Duck Dodger
The past came back to haunt me.  I knew I shouldn't have told that one
kid at the last tournament what my last deck was made of, but i did, and here
he was with a clone.  Fortunately, He didn't get a good draw.  He had a
psyduck against my Tung.  He rolled twos every time, and only my paralysis
saved me when I dealt my last ten damage at 10 hp left.
Prefinals - Record 6:0  Win by lack of basic

Semifinals  -  Nidorama
I don't know how this kid was able to get into the semifinals, but here
he was, the same sap i knocked in round 1.  It didn't take me but two turns
to use my gastly's lick to demolish his nidoran male, even though he went
first.  The dice went my way with the horn hazard.
Semifinals - Record 7:0  Win by lack of basic.

Finals - Pain in the ance- I mean, rain dance.
The finals are usually like a reunion.  I played this guy in round three,
and he was easy then.  I got the sponge combo again this time, but this time
he got his combo too.  My mewtwo and his articuno duked it out, and i beat
it, but his toise came and KOed my Mewtwo, so I promoted Jiggly and played a
double colorless, and i evolved and oaked to fill bench for the wave (second
turn i played a psy on it.).  Then, he hit Wiggly for forty, and layed a
bunch on his articuno.  Well, i do the wave to knock out blastoise, but he
promotes articuno, revives Squirtle, breeds it into blastoise, and kos
Wiggly.  Figures everything i have on the bench is jigglys or gastlys.
Didn't take him long.
Finals - Record 7:1  Loss by prizes

Well, second ain't bad, so i got $20 stroe credit.  But next time i am sure
going to kick that kid's A--.
So, until the TV show stops being so damn gay,
