Hey PoJo!  I just got back from a single-elimination, best 2-out-of-3 tourney at The Gathering Grounds in St. Louis, MO on Saturday, April 29, 2000.  It was DCI-sanctioned tourney, and I was using my Wiggly deck.  There were 32 in attendance.

The Wigglin' Wonders of the World

4 Jigglypuff
3 Wigglytuff
3 Scyther
3 Electabuzz
3 MP Mewtwo

4 Bill
2 Oak
3 CPU Search
3 Scoop Up
2 Item Finder
4 Plus Power
3 Gust of Wind

10 Psychic NRG
9 Lightning NRG
4 DCE

Strategy: Get either Wiggly or Mewtwo powered turn 2 and kill stuff.

Round 1:  Fat Kid wants to Fight!

Game 1:  I didn't get his name, but I never do.  Oh well.  Anyway, I start with Scyther, Jiggly, and Mewtwo on bench.  He has Hitmonchan.  After a long game of Slashing, Scooping, him SERing me, I finally burned through his deck with Wigglytuff!

Game 2:  I start with my Buzz to his Scyther.  I go, and shock him paralyzed.  He goes, attaches DCE, and Rocket's Sneak Attack me.  He takes out my Scoop Up.  I go, draw Wiggly.  I drop a DCE on Jiggly that's on my bench, evolve, and Oak.  I loaded my bench.  I shock, no paralyze.  He goes, attaches an NRG and slashes me.  I scoop up Buzz, send out Wiggly, attach an Energy, drop Buzz and lay Plus Power.  Game.  Afterwards, he tells his friends how cool my deck is.

Games: 2-0
Rounds: 1-0

Round 2:  Dad wants to Fight!

Game 1:  He wasn't my Dad, but he was a dad, and I didn't know his name.  He starts with Mime to my Scyther.  DOH!  I draw a Bill, and Bill for a Jiggly and a DCE!  Yay!  I drop Puff, retreat Scyther, drop the DCE, and Pound.  He goes, Oaks, draws Lickitung, Mime, Mew.  He lays an Energy on Lickitung and lets me kill his Mime.  He sends out Lickitung.  Tongue Wrap, with paralyze.  I draw an Oak.  I lay a Psychic Energy on Jiggly and Oak.  I get Wiggly and lots o' basics.  I drop the Wiggly, add 3 Plus Powers and kill the Tung.  Out comes a Mime.  I retreat for Puff, add a DCE, and pound.  The man retreats him, sends out Mew, and Psywave, but I remind him of resistance.  He frowns and passes.  I retreat Puff, send out Tuff, Add DCE and KO Mew.  Out comes Mime.  I Lullaby.  He stays asleep and I KO Mime, his last basic, and win.

Game 2:  He starts with Chansey to my Scyther and Puff on bench.  I go, lay a DCE on Puff, retreat and Pound.  He goes, lays a Psychic Energy and passes.   I go, draw an Oak.  Again, I lay an Energy on Puff, and Oak.  I draw Wiggly again.  I load my bench, after Oaking, then Item Finding the Oaks.  I eventually had a pumped bench and 4 Plus Powers on Wiggly.  I waved for 100 and won the game on turn 2 against Chansey!

Games: 4-0
Rounds: 2-0

Round 3: Blonde Kid wants to fight!

Game 1:  This kid rocked my world.  He had a deck like mine, only with Hitmonchan instead of Mewtwo.  He also had SERs a plenty.  This was going to be rough.  And rough it was.  I go, Scyther to Scyther, Jiggly to Jiggly.  I lay an NRG on Scyther and end turn.  He goes, lays an energy on Scyther, and ends turn.  I lay DCE and Plus Power and do 40 to Scyther.  He lays DCE and SER my Scyther.  I go, attach power to Puff, retreat, Pound.  This was going back and forth, and then I was dominating with Wiggly.  Then I struck a problem...named Hitmonchan.  S. Punch blew Wiggly away, and when I tried to strike back with Mewtwo or Scyther, he'd SER me, Lass and Rocket Sneak Attack my trainers, leaving my Pokemon as Poke Punching bags.  He ripped through my Pokemon and won it.

Game 2:  I tried to be confident, but when I saw he had 2 Chans to my 2 Buzzes, I knew I had a snowballs chance of hell of winning.  I went first, and Oaked.  I got Scyther!! Yeah baby!  I layed an energy on him and Scooped my Buzz.  He went, shook his head, and passed.  I layed a DCE on Scyther, added a Plus Power and Slashed 40.  He went, Switched, and passed.  I Gusted and Slashed.  He went, and did nothing.  I slashed 40 again with a Power.  He did nothing.  I decided to do something interesting.  I CPU Searched, discarding 2 Psychic Energy, for Mewtwo, retreated, and Absorbed.  He played an energy and jabbed.  I Psyburn for the win.  It turned out he had all his power in the bottom of his deck.  Now the last game

Game: 3:  I was too busy watching my Pokemon die to remember much of this.  All I remember is he S. Punched with Chan until he pumped Wiggly and demolished me.

Games: 5-2
Rounds: 2-1

Semi-Finals!
My rank was good enough to make it into the Semi-Final round, but if I lost one more time, I was out.  This was a definite disadvantage, because If I hadn't lost, I would have to lose twice in the Finals to be eliminated, and I am sure I would have won the tourney because of it.  Anyway, on to the match!

Round 4: Darin wants to Fight!

Game 1:  I remember this kid because he was a PoJo-holic, and he was cool.  Anyway, he was using a Magmar-Maker.  He mulliganned 3 times, and then forgot to place his prizes, resulting in me getting to draw one of my prizes.  I had Wiggly on turn 2.  Game Over.

Game 2:  This time, he remembered everything, but he still mulliganned 3 times!  So, I had Mewtwo whoopin his deck on turn two.  I drew Wiggly, DCE on him, retreat and Wave for the win.

Games: 7-2
Rounds: 3-1

I made it to the FINALS!  I was already in the top 5, and was guaranteed at least $20 cash.  Well, unfortunatley, that's all I was gettin', because my first match in the Finals was...

Finals: Game 1:  Blonde Kid wants to Fight!

Round 1:  Yes, the return of the infamous Blonde Kid.  I knew what I had to do.  His Scyther to mine, His Chan to my Mewtwo!  I go, Oak, get Buzz and friends, retreat to Mewtwo, Gust Chan, and Absorb.  I proceed to rip through 3 Chans, when Scyther takes me down.  Buzz knocks Scyther down, but Chan gets in my face again and takes out Jiggly, and 2 Buzzes.  Wiggly comes back and gets Chan, his last Pokemon, for the win!

Round 2:  I was up on him.  I win, I move on and get at least $45.  It was a hellish game.  Eventually though, those Chans and SER got me again.  I was in good shape at one time, but I saw something new: a Magmar.  I had noticed Fire NRG...but I hadn't seen Magmar in the games I'd played him.  He Smogged Scyther.  I killed Magmar with Wiggly, but Chan took me out.

Round 3:  I was happy making it to the top 5 on my first tourney, but winning it would kick ass.  Unfortunatley, it didn't happen.  This game was long and strenuous, and it was closer than hell.  Pokemon fell all over the place.  I don't remember much, but let me tell you, we stretched the DCI time limit to the max.  Judge called 2 mins as we both fought on our last few prizes.  Sweating, I dropped a DCE onto Scyther and Slashed Chan with a Plus Power.  It was the luckiest damn thing I've ever seen (almost) he drew Magmar, dropped an energy on him, Scoop Up Chan and Killed Scyther with Magmar.  I groaned as I sent out Wiggly with but 2 Pokemon on the bench.  Chan fell back down, Magmar was retreated, an energy and 4 plus powers were dropped and Wiggly fell.  We wiped sweat from our brow's, wiped the sweat off on our shirts, and shook hands.  He was a nice guy.  We congradulated each other, and he said I was awesome for my first tourney.  I bid him good luck and left with 20$ cash.  I didn't hang around to see who won because my parents were rushing me, so check the Gathering Ground website: http://www.gatheringground.com  Look for Naji Pitts.  That's me.  Anyway, this was a great time.  I didn't spend my 20 on anything (though I saw some neat cards) and decided to save it for a rainy day.  I learned many important lessons today:

1.  Chan rocks.  No matter what anyone says.  Period.
2.  SER rocks.  No matter what anyone says.  Period.
3.  Chan and SER rock.  No matter what anyone says.  Period.  (P.S.  I knew this already, but this tourney just helped me remember it).
4.  Team Rocket is cool.  I love Rocket's Sneak Attack and Nighttime Garbage Run.  If I had more of those, I'd put them in a deck.

Anyway, I got 1 1st Edition Pack, just for fun, and got Dark Machamp.  Cool Card, but I won't ever use it.  I also got a Deck Box and plastic cases (finally!)

Props and Slops:

Props:
To Gathering Ground.  It spanks the monkey's uncle!  If you haven't been there, go now!
To all my opponents.  You were great sports after you won/lost to me, and if you did lose, you cheered me on as I continued onward up the ladder.
To Blonde Kid!!  Dude, I must say, nice deck.  Thanks for the challenge!
To some idiot.  There was a kid who said he wasn't interested in Pokemon anymore and gave out cards for free.  I got 1st Edition Blastoise and Chansey.  Then, Gathering Ground threw him out!  ROFL!
To the kid who traded me a holo Articuno for my non-holo Gengar.

Slops:
Not many, but Blonde Kid for beating me.
Oh yeah, and remember from my last deck report, the Redneck kid who couldn't tie his shoes?  He was there as well, and in between rounds, I beat him turn 1 with Electabuzz vs Horsea *Go Figure* and 2 Plus Power!  He was knocked out Round 1, that stupid cheating monkey!  Slops for corrupting the world more than it already is with your retardation!

OK, PoJo-holics!  Peace Out!
