Toys R Us in Minnesota
April 4, 2000
About 30 kids were there

Hey Pojo, I love the site.  Last
week I went to my local Toys R Us to try out the Pokemon League.  I brought
my new
deck called "Buzzaptabuzz."  It's named after Electrode and his Buzzap attack
and my favorite Pokemon, Electabuzz.  Let me tell you, this deck wasted.  The
main Pokemon in this deck is Electabuzz.  It can do 10 damage plus paralyze
for 1 and do 40 for only 2 so he's a must have.  You also have Zapdos.  He
has resistance to fighting for all those annoying Haymakers.  Also, it can
still take out any of the larger threats with Thunder.  Then, when he gets to
beat up, use Thunderbolt.  The only downside is that both attacks cost 4 a
piece.  That's why you have Electrode.  He can use his Pokemon Power Buzzap
to speed up Zapdos, or anything else.  If you have the energy than you can
just power him up and do 50 damage, not too bad.

Now we have the trainers.  There are 4 GOW.  They are very helpful against
Raindance for killing the Squirtle and Magikarp before they set the big combo
off.  There are also 4 Scoop Ups and 2 Super Potions to save your Electabuzz
because he's the most important card in the deck.  There are 4 ER and 4 SUR
to keep them at bay until you can build up an Electabuzz and get up a couple
of energy on a Zapdos.  Finally, there are 2 Bills and 2 Prof. Oaks to get
you the cards that you need.  Now for the deck:

Pokemon 15
4 Voltorb
4 Electrode Base
3 Zapdos Base
4 Electabuzz

Trainers 22
4 Gust of Wind
4 Scoop Up
4 Energy Removal
4 Super Energy Removal
2 Bill
2 Professor Oak
2 Super Potions

Energy 23
23 Electric Energy

Now for the report:

Match 1 vs. Walter with Raindance
I drew 2 Electabuzz, a Voltorb, a GOW and 3 energy.  I started out with
Buzz.  He put out a Magikarp and benched a Squirtle.  I one the flip.  I drew
energy.  I played and energy on Buzz and attacked for 10 with paralyzation.
He played an energy on Magikarp.  I played another energy on Buzz, GOW out
Squirtle and KOed him before he could evolve him to Blastoise.  On my next
turn I KOed Magikarp and won.
MY RECORD: 1-0

Match 2 vs. Seth with "Nightshade" (Psy Deck)
I started Buzz, and benched a Voltorb.  He started Ghastly with Abra on the
bench.  I fought the Ghastly and KOed him but not before he could get another
one on the bench and evolved into Haunter (Fossil).  I kept on killing until
I only had 2 prizes left, he had six.  He stalled for a while again with
Haunter until I only had 10 cards left in my deck.  I finally killed it with
a Thunderpunch.  He brought out Abra, his last Pokemon.  I KOed it the next
turn.
MY RECORD: 2-0

Match 3 vs. "Spaghetti Face" with Grass Deck
I won't even waste time on this match.  This kid truly sucks.  He has
practically every card but won't trade a thing!!!  This made me mad so I
killed him second turn with Buzz because he only had Oddish out.
MY RECORD: 3-0

Match 4 vs. Walter again with Haymaker
I drew a Buzz and energy.  He had a Scyther and a Hitmonchan on the bench.
This was actually a pretty good match.  It was a long one though.  We battled
it out evenly until I finally drew Zapdos.  I did a double Buzzap from the
Electrode's and killed his active.  He then brought out Hitmonlee and I
killed him with Thunderbolt, drawing my sixth prize.
MY RECORD: 4-0

Match 5 vs. Walter with Haymaker (He wanted a re-match)
Once again, a fairly good match.  I had Buzz but that was about it.  In late
game, I finally got Zapdos but it was too late and he KOed him drawing his
last prize.
MY RECORD: 4-1

Match 6 vs. Gym Leader with "Obnoxious Deck" (Grass/Colorless Poison Deck)
Now I like this guy a whole lot.  He's one of the nicest guys there.  He even
let me choose the deck I wanted to play.  I picked the "Obnoxious Deck" not
knowing what it was.  This deck was by far THE EASIEST deck I played all day.
I drew Buzz, Voltorb, and a few energy.  He loaded the bench with Exeggcute
and Grimer.  He kept on trying to put me to sleep but it never worked (I
guess that was the "obnoxious" part).  To make a long story short I KOed all
of his Pokemon using Electabuzz alone.
MY RECORD: 5-1
