to 7 and 8.
ROUND ONE - THE WILD
CARD: I was playing against Nick Morris, this kid who I think is sorta out of
his gord. He's playing a fire/fighting deck... an upgraded starter deck... this
was funny.
GAME ONE: I slap down
farfetch'd, lay a fighting, and kill a diglett. Next turn Growlithe is in with a
fighting energy on him. So I lay my dbl colorless on farfetch'd, and beat him
for 30. He draws charmander, and evolves into charmeleon. Lays a fire on
charmeleon. I lay a fighting on my machop, evolve into Machoke and kill
growlithe. Charmeleon comes in with two fire. I do 30 after laying energy on
Machoke.. Next turn he potions and attacks me with flamethrower, killing my
farfetch'd. I come in with Machoke, lay and energy. I lay a Hitmonchan I drew on
the bench, and professor oaked. Beat him.
GAME TWO: He draws no
basics, then gets one diglett. I screw him with leek slap. HEHE
ROUND TWO - THE
QUARTERFINALS: Playing against Justin Hauk, with a psychic/fighting deck. He
beat my nemesis Eric Chapman, to his disgust. Cool!
GAME ONE: I am
surprised by the pure psychic deck with a bit of fighting. No wonder Eric lost.
I have Hitmonchan in front, and he stomps everything pretty quickly. Abra gave
me trouble, but i drew a super potion luckily. Still, Farfetch'd and Machop were
ready to kill in back. I won.
GAME TWO: Justin gets abra,
sees farfetch'd, evolves into Kadabra. My farfetch'd beats him for 30- yay, i
love leek slap! Kadabra gets another energy. We both have these one basics.
Justin thinks he's won. But, I surprise by laying down a double colorless energy
and killing his Kadabra. This deck is good!
ROUND THREE - THE
SEMIFINALS: I'm up against Alex Townsend, playing straight water. I'm surprised
he made it this far, because he's not too good at pokemon.
GAME ONE: Alex gets a
magikarp and evolves into Garydos. I use leek slap on his Garydos- TAILS, crap!
Garydos gets a second water energy on him. I play double colorless and plus
power to do 40. Alex doesn't play a water energy, he doesn't have one. Thank god
he never plays much energy! I top deck a Machop, and evolve it into
Machoke-Machamp and lay an energy. I use Pot Smash again with my other pluspower
for 40 more. Alex gets a water energy and kills Farfetch'd. Machamp comes in,
and i get a hitmonchan. I use another energy on Machamp and prof. oak. I get two
energy removals, and I use em! Alex finally plays a squirtle on his bench, lays
energy on Garydos. I lay energy on Machamp. He hits me for 50 after laying
energy. I hit him for 30, killing him. Squirtle comes in, and he tries to
parylize. Doesn't work, I win!
GAME TWO: He gets one
lousy Magikarp, no Garydos. Farfetch'd beats him up with one leek slap. GEEZ,
I've had two first turn wins with this deck. And Farfetch'd seems to be loving
my opening hand.
ROUND FOUR - THE FINALS:
Playing against Uheay Kasikei- yea thats right. Uheay Kasikei. Pronounced
YOU-HAY. Funny name. He's playing an electric deck, so this was a
breeze.
GAME ONE: Pikachu and
company fall hard to my Hitmonchan. He was doing 80 damage by my third turn,
considering the weaknesses throughout his deck to my color.
GAME TWO: I get out Machamp.
This was by far the easiest round. This guy probably got here because most
people play straight water, and electric destroys it if you choose Dewgong over
Garydos.
Well, I got 12 dollars
and kudos from all the tourney guys. Two first places and a second place, thats
cool with me. Well, c ya next friday for the next tourney report. Hopefully the
KGB will finally have the pokemon tournament that is DCI
Sanctioned.
