This is a fire/fighting deck that works pretty well...It's not wonderful, due to my lack of good cards. This deck was made using the cards from a Brushfire theme deck, a Blackout theme deck, and a few booster packs. I've played against a few friends that have holofoils, really nice cards, etc. (Chansey, Clefairy, BILLS) and won VERY easily. The only things that could really beat the crap out of this deck would be a psychic/water deck. Please send me any suggestions. I don't have alot of awesome cards, that's the reason this deck isn't as fancy as some decks. Fighting: Onix x1 Onix is a good staller while you build up your fire pokemon. Machop x2 Does 20 damage for one energy...Good to get off a quick attack. Machoke x2 Takes alot of energy, but Submission is powerful...Good in conjunction with Gust of Wind to take out any pokemon they are trying to evolve. Almost exactly the same as Arcanine except for Machoke's moves are weaker. Hitmonchan x1 Nice Damage and health points for a basic... Fighting energy x10 Fire: Ponyta x1 Again, nice damage for a basic...Doesn't need much energy. Charmeleon x2 Good damage, uses up energy quickly, though..Nice HP Charmander x2 Not bad damage and HP for a basic.. Growlithe x2 Not very fancy, but this guy has won me quite a few games. Arcanine x1 Very powerful with high HPs...Use Take Down in conjunction with Defender to take out almost anything. Magmar x1 Really powerful, a basic that can do 50 damage. Kinda low HP. Vulpix x2 Ok, yeah, yeah, he sucks. Ninetails is good, though. Ninetales x1 This guy rocks..But takes too much energy. One of the only pokemon that can do 80 damage with no damage to itself. Fire Energy x17 Farfetch'd x2 Duh! Nice to weaken a pokemon up while building up another pokemon such as Ninetails or Arcanine. Trainers: Defender x2 Use this with Onix to stall, or with Arcanine to do 80 damage with only 10 to Arcanine. Potion x3 Also good with Onix to stall, and useful in any situation. Energy Retrieval x2 Use these to get some instant fire energies for Ninetales or Arcanine. Gust of Wind x2 If they try to retreat a pokemon with very little health left, switch that pokemon back for an easy kill. It's also funny to switch an active pokemon with a pokemon with a high retreat cost that has no energy on it...Usually you can get a prize before they can retreat that pokemon. Switch x1 Perfect for those pokemon with high retreat costs. Pokedex x1 I know Tyler hates these, but they're good for getting some energies or a pokemon faster than usual. Energy Removal x1 If they're building up a pokemon, use this to give you an extra turn to weaken the current one up. Prof. Oak x1 Can you say "Duh"? The basic strategy with this deck is to stall with Onix, Hitmonchan, and Farfetch'd while building up Vulpix and Growlithe to Ninetails and Arcanine. If you don't seem to be getting many fire energies, stick with Arcanine. However, if you have alot of fire energies, use Ninetails. It's usually good to use Arcanine and Defenders(or Potions) until you have about 6 fire energies on Ninetails. The Charmander/Charmeleon are kind of backup if Ninetails dies or Arcanine kills himself (like he usually ends up doing...He seems to fit in with most electric pokemon). Magmar, Ponyta, Machop, or Onix is the pokemon you want to have at the beginning. Onix can stall forever against decks with weak pokemon, and Magmar can weaken up most strong pokemon such as Charizard or Venusaur. If you're up against a water deck, you have to stall with your fighting pokemon, then stick a Ninetails or Arcanine out there to (hopefully) kill any water pokemon in one hit. Try to use Gust of Wind or Ninetails' Leer to switch any pokemon they are trying to build up (Squirtle and Poliwag are the main worries here). If you have the cards, you might want to take out the energy removals and retrievals and stick in a few Bills and more Prof. Oaks. Adding a few Clefairys or Chanseys would be a good idea, also. A Machamp might do the deck some good, depending on how you like to play your deck. Please send me suggestions at mathwhiz@powernet.org W. Camp
