I had been in a small turney, with only 12 people in it, with 4 using one of each preconstructed deck. Thanks guys for letting me use proxies for Bill. You think that after opening tons of boosters, you'd have more than one Bill. Go figure. This deck can be better, but I am experimenting with Clefairy and Farfetch'd. Here's the deck: Pokemon ------- 2 Clefairy (experimental, and to beat up Chansey) 2 Farfetch'd (also experimental) 4 Dratini 2 Dragonair 4 Hitmonchan (big beatings. HIRO-SHOTEN-HA!) 2 Machop 3 Pikachu 1 Raichu (Foriegn! hehe) 2 Electabuzz Trainers -------- 4 Bill (I had to proxy 3 of them. Thanks again guys!) 2 Professor Oaks (This one's a gimme) 4 Energy Removal 3 Super Energy Removal Energy ------ 4 Double Colorless Energy 10 Fighting Energy 11 Electric Energy The tournament was single elimination, with the person with the best win(opponent getting the least amount of prizes). Match One: This was a definate Magic player, who couldn't grasp that you needed lots of energy. Game One: He had 5 Pokemon and 1 Energy the whole game. Hitmonchan came in for beatings. Game Two: He pulled 3 Energy! WoW! Kinda sucked for him that I played energy removal. He was dead in 7 turns. Match Two: This one was going to be tough. My opponent played psychic and fighting. Luckily I was prepared. Hehehe. Game One: 3rd turn Alakazam! Ouch. Hitmonchan kept the pain coming. The deck had a good idea. Chansey's double edge and move the damage to some thing else, like Kadabra for recover. I beat him out by decking him. I just couldn't beat everything off, although He only got 2 goal cards and I got 4. Game Two: One weird word for ya.... HIRO-SHOTEN-HA!!!(translated as Heavenly Blast of the Dragon from the Ranma 1/2 novels(or special Punch in my case)) Hitmonchan went the distance with energy removal to back him up. I retreated him and put in Raichu to Thunder, just for the heck of it. I commend Tom Tunner for his deck. Fortunately for me, luck and skill was on my side, basically farfetch'd and dratini in the 1st game to hold off the pressure(and Clefairy). I got the bye, cause my opponent didn't get a single goal card in the first match and 2 total in the second. I wanted to play another match, and besides, the first guy I played was a Magic player, not Pokemon. Oh Well. Hoody-hoo!!! for me. Finals: This guy waz good, but then again, it was a friend of mine, Sid. We talked deck ideas before the match, and we knew what we were playing. Game One: This is where a problem came up, and because of it, we both split the prize, although we still played to see who was winner. The problem came up when he put in Koffing, and I Metronomed it Clefariy. We didn't know if I had to flip the coin, choose which effect, or any other alternatives. The 2 judges both disagreed each other. One said that I got to choose, while the other said I didn't even get to do a status effect, because the flip was paid in the attack. We decided to just flip a coin. I will never dis confusion ever again! It was amazing! It all came down to Raichu's Agility versus Chansey's Scrunch. I never let him double-edge until late into the game, but the man got 9 HEADS IN A ROW! Talk about luck. Luckily, I got an Agility in, and then he failed his next scrunch, and I thundered for the win. He needed one goal card to win. Game Two: Probably the worst match my deck ever had in its career. It was I pikachu vs. 2 Koffings. I wonder who won after a confusion got thru. Hmmm..... Game Three: Once again an amazing match. The critical point of the match is when I had 1 goal card to go, and he had 4. He put in Venusaur for his last pokemon. I didn't have a lot of pokemon ready to deal lots of damage, and energy removal wouldn't work because he could just Poke Power the energy he needed to his Venusaur. I sacrificed a Hitmonchan and an Electabuzz to stall and do damage. I top decked a Clefairy when Electabuzz was about to die, and I put an energy on him. I used a Machop to stall one more turn, to top deck hopefully something for a win(I was desperate and I knew that sleep kinda sux in this game). He kills off my Machop, and I rest my hand on my deck. I put Pikachu that had one energy into play. I had no other cards in my hand. I needed to pull off a one-card wonder. Becuase of some bad draws, I needed to do 50 damage to kill off Venusaur. Then I drew the card. A look of sadness crossed my face. Sid reached over to shake my hand. I just sat there, amazed. It took this long for it finally to happen. I retreated Pikachu, put in Clefairy, and placed the Double Colorless Energy I drew on Clefairy. I then promptly did 60 damage to the Venusaur to win the tourney. We had more people watching our match than people who played in the tournament. It was amazing. The place filled up with yells of congratualtions and how that was a load of BS. Whew! Some people started to think maybe they shouldn't have let me proxy the Bills. And then, even after the tourney, I still only own one Bill. You wanted a report of the tourney, so there it was. Sorry for the suspense, but I couldn't help it. This is Chipmunk, from The Guild, signing off.
