OK, here's what happened.
I went to crossgates Gamekeeper store and entered in a pokemon league. (ever
since then, I have been going every monday.)

I promptly played games with my deck.
here is a recap of the events:

Game #1:

some kid with an electric-water deck. unfortunately, in his starting hand,
all he got was an abra. How sad! I attached a ground energy to Rhyhorn and
used leer and got heads.
he attached energy and used psyshock and flipped tails. (How sad!) I attached
Dbl colorless and horn attacked. his abra kind of left us too early. he had
no more basics, so the game was won.

Game #2:

The kid mumbled, so I didn't hear him clearly. (Fire-Grass?)
he started with charmander and I started with machop. he won the coin toss,
so he went first. he immediately preceded to evolve to charizard, without
thinking of a little thing called energy. I ended up beating his charizard
with machamp. (yes, Machamp!)
Doing only 30 damage per turn, I still beat him. the rest of his charmanders
went very easily. I tried to tell him to add energy or a wiggilytuff or two,
what with so many benched charmanders, but he Mumbled something I couldn't
understand and ran away, like some kind of convict. oh well!

Game #3:

My abselute enemy: POWER RESERVE!!!
My pokemon went down faster than you could say Jabroni. I't's really not
funny. I got like 2 prizes before he wiped out all my pokemon. (personal
note: I'm lucky I could get Machamp out. sadly enough, super psy made short
work of that...

Game #4-

my last game of the night- an electric deck, as I recall, was actually very
hard to beat.
he was loaded with pikachus, Riachus, and ENERGY. He got 4 of his prizes,
getting my machoke down to 10 HP. (personal note:Hitmonchan & Machamp were at
the bottom of my deck.)

By then, I had about a half-hour left, so I hit the trading tables for the
rest of the night.
