"Controlled Lightning"

Dear Scott,

I played in a tournament on October 10, 1999. The tournament was held in Manchester Center, in Fresno, Ca. There were about 40 people there, but it was hard to tell, because the tournament was so screwed up It was double elimination for the first 3 rounds. You had to win 3 rounds to make it to the finals, but in the finals, it was only single elimination. You have to wait to find out how I do. I am still improving my deck, so here it is now:

Pokemon

Energy

Trainer

x4 Abra

x15 Psycic

x4 Bill

x3 Kadabra

x11 Electric

x2 Pokemon Trader

x1 Alakazam

x1 Computer Search

x3 Jynx

x1 Prof. Oak

x2 Mewtwo

x1 Pokemon Center

x1 Mr. Mime

x1 Full Heal

x2 Electabuzz

x2 Super Potions

x1 Zapdos(basic)

x1 Switch

x1 Zapdos(Fossil)

x3 Gust of Wind

Round 1 vs. Donnie, with a rainbow deck

This round was very easy, playing a 6 year old with a rianbow deck. I think he just opened 6 booster packs of cards, then got rid of 6 random cards. I am not even sure he had any rares in his deck. I didnt see them. I got a Jynx and an Electabuzz and beat him within seconds.

(1-0)

Round 2 vs Mike, with a Psycic/Electric

I thought this round would be much harder, playing a 20 year old guy, who I heard whopped the kid before me. I won the coin toss, so I got to go first. I attatch an energy to Jynx, double slap his Abra’s @$$ for 40 (he has a weakness to psycic if you didnt know) and win the game because he was out of basics.

(2-0)

Round 3 vs Ryan, with a mono/grass deck

I started off with my ALAKAZAM, the backbone of my deck. I also had a computer search, an Abra, Chansey, and Jynx. This match actually lasted for a while. I sent out my Jynx, and set my Chansey and Abra on my bench, then Computer Search for my kadabra. Once I evlove my Kadabra into an Alakazam, I keep my Jynx in for the rest of the game, with the exception of sending in my basic Zapdos just to finish his Chansey off with a Thunder then a Thunderbolt. The kid was actually begging me to stop damage swaping (I think he started to cry).

(3-0)

Final 16

Round 4, vs Katie, with a Psycic deck

This game went fast because in the finals they were running out of time, so they went with only 3 prizes this round. I drew a Mewtwo and Jynx early, and Kept using Meditate with Jynx, killing her Abra, and Mewtwo’s psycic against the Mr. Mime with no energy. I sent out my Electabuzz to make short work of her Clefairy.

(4-0)

Final 8

Round 5 vs Zach with a Haymaker

This game I got an average draw, but I didnt get the cards I needed when I needed. I got the Jynx’s against the Scythers, where I needed the Electabuzzes, and the Electabuzzes against the Hitmochan’s, where I needed the Jynx’s. I was surprised never to have gotten my Mr. Mime out during the tournament, because I needed him against the Scythers. This game was actually close, when I got my Zapdos, but he kept doing 30 damage to himself, and I ran out of room to swap damage to, never getting my Chansey. I needed only one more prize, but he got a Scyther knocking out my Zapdos, which got me 4 prizes. It was a close game, but I lost.

(4-1)

I ended up getting 6th place, but got to chose a random pokemon card as a consolation prize. I ended up getting a water energy and a Ninetales. I already had 4 of them, so I traded a person that for an Electabuzz and a Mr. Mime. I will try to make those guys fit into my deck(possibly switch those two for an abra and kadabra).

I would like to thank Scott, who is very innovative, so I will do a section like in his "Y2E" deck, in replacment of "Props and Slops" Here it is:

Bagel’s Bitchin’ Again

This was the most screwed up tournament I have ever been to. First of all, they had the tournament to where it was double elimination, but then if you lost both games, you could enter AGAIN for another $2! That doubled the time I had to wait. I won all 3 games in less than an hour, but the people who lost wanted to play again. It took 3 hours to get to the "finals". And when in the finals, there were still 16 people there. I had to wait another hour to get to the next round of the finals. I was there for 5 hours total, just to play 5 games then to leave, because they were running out of time. Next time they should just say "NO MORE" after the tournament starts. Thank you
