I wanted to run something original. It was plaidlesspez's idea from US Nationals. I threw in my own twist and also literally got the deck together in the last minute, through a lot of desperate trading. This is not my ideal, final version of the deck. Nevertheless, I already have the trip on my hand from the Gym Challenge in Iowa. So I had nothing to lose.

Concept: Use Wyanut to search for Exploud evolution line. Evolve to Wobbuffet against Gardy or as needed in other matchups to put pressure on the opponent. Exploud comes up and brings havoc to all the opponent's Pokemon. Desert Ruins will bring all the ex-Pokemon to its knees, along with Ancient TM Rock. Mr. Briney's on Exploud with Loudred ready to evolve to Exploud. Or Pokemon Nurse after early rounds of Breaking Sound. Pokemon Reversal was my experimental card - attempting to buy a lot of time when used on Wobbuffet, Blaziken, etc. Or it can definitely KO an important Pokemon, such as Delcatty, Ralts, Torchic. It all depends on the situation.

Since the total # of players is between 64 and 128 players, it'll be 7 rounds.

Please note some of the details may not be perfectly accurate. I'm just trying my very best to report the details accurately.

Round 1: vs. Clay with RAMBO
I went first and had a great start with Wyanut and Whismur. I immediately searched for a Loudred.
He started with a lone Rayquaza ex and attached a Lightning. I attached an Energy to Whismur and searched for an Exploud. He Copycated me and pulled out quite a bit of stuff. He Rare Candied his Torchic to Blaze ex, and another Torchic into play. He TV Reporter twice on both turns, so he had exactly 2 Fire Energies and did Sprial Growth and got 2 heads! I didn't draw another Energy on the 3rd turn, but I had a Boost. So I retreated Wyanut and got an easy KO with my Exploud. He sent up his Blaze ex. Next turn, he got a Skitty and evolve his Torchic to Combusken. He Blaze Kicked my Exploud and burned it. I was resilient with Breaking Sound, as I Oracled a Steven's Advice and a Desert Ruins. I didn't suffer any burn damage for the next couple turns, so I managed to get a Loudred on the Bench ready, and when my Exploud had 80 damage, I Mr. Briney's and continue the assault. The key KO was on Skitty at this very turn. He has no draw and very inefficient search (cough, Oracle). Soon after I did Ancient TM Rock and KOed his Torchic underneath his Blaze ex. He managed to get another Rare Candied Blaze ex out a few turns later. But I never gave him enough time and setup to do a Volcanic Ash, and once his Torchic underneath Blaze ex is KOed, he didn't have a chance.

WIN 1-0-0 3pts.

Round 2: vs. Swalot and other Grass Pokemon The Swalot was posing quite a threat early on against my Exploud. But she played TA's Seviper and I simply did Hyper Voice to Swalot before it got KOed, Pokemon Reversal on TA's Seviper, and searched for necessary "parts" to make another Exploud with Wyanut. I got so much time to charge up the 2nd Exploud and a Loudred that she can't possibly win. (Yes, she eventually got a 2nd Swalot, but it was too late).

WIN 2-0-0 6pts.

Lunch Break: Oh, geez. I was trying to grab lunch from the Concession, and I got mobbed by the mass of people from the Catholic Convention next door. I did the best I can to accomdate them, but it was simply too many. I needed my Dad, Meganium45, and a couple others to escort me back. I wasn't expecting that at all. Sorry if I couldn't accomadate you.

Round 3: vs. Gorebyss, Milotic, and Mewtwo ex I only started with a Wobbuffet, and he had a Dunsparce and Feebas. I put a Psy Energy and passed.

He used his Dunsparce to fetch up Mewtwo ex, Clamperl, and another Feebas. I laid down the Desert Ruins on my second turn, put another Psy Energy on Wobbuffet, got a Whismur into play and passed.
He paralyzed my Wobbuffet with Dunsparce. He's still charging up his Milotic. I got a Wyanut into play. I KOed his Dunsparce next turn, and he's ready to go with his Milotic. He OHKOs my Wobbuffet. I had no choice but to dig for Pokemon Reversals. I couldn't get the first one to work, but the second one did, and that gave me a lot of breathing room. He continues to charge up his 2nd Milotic, while I charged up my first Exploud of the game. Once Wyanut is done searching and cranking out a second Loudred, his Mewtwo ex is KOed with Desert Ruins, and Milotic KOed my Wyanut, tying the game at 4 prizes apiece.

I did 30 damage to his fully charged up Milotic (the other one had two Energies). He did 80 damage to Exploud with Distortion Wave. I Mr. Briney's and bring out a new Exploud and pounded the other one for 30 damage. I could have Ancient TM [Rock] this turn, but I was afraid of Double Rainbow, so I need to do this to assure I get both Feebas underneath his Milotics at the same time. He did 80 damage, and he was smart by starting to charge up Gorebyss. He did one Juggler after another (consecutive turns). I Ancient TM [Rock] for 2 prizes, and his Gorebyss KOed my Exploud. I had a 2-3 prize advantage. I also got another Exploud out, and I was charging up my 2nd Wobbuffet. I played the other 2 Wyanuts on the Bench. But that came to haunt me later on in the game. By that I mean it didn't look like he had a lot to offer - he did some damage to my Exploud with Dunsparce and Paralysis, and I KOed it next turn with Hyper Voice (Boost). 1 prize left. But then he came swarming with Gorebyss. I remember he OHKOed my Exploud with it. The Wobbuffet that haunted me - I brought him up to do the 50 and it got flopped as well because he added a Strength Charm to do just enough damage (like 70) to OHKO my Wobbuffet. I got another Exploud and did Breaking Voice, but he had that elusive Warp Point to send up one of my 2 poor Wyanuts sitting on the bench for the game.

LOSS 2-1-0 6pts.

I wasn't happy about this loss because I played poorly toward the end. I totally overlooked the Gorebyss swarm.

Round 4: vs. Exploud, Delcatty, Linonne
I was very fortunate not to lose this game because I had a lone Wobbuffet and his Dunsparce did 20 damage to it. On turn 3, he didn't have a Boost Energy in his deck. He only pulled a Double Rainbow and I manage to draw everything with 2 Steven's Advice the next two turns and settled into the game. I eventually outplayed him with timely Mr. Briney's and Pokemon Nurse. I KOed his Weaker Pokemon with damage on it, like Dunsparce, and won by prize count of 3-5, when time is called.

WIN 3-1-0 9pts.

Round 5: vs. Patriach - Blaze
I started with a Wyanut and went 2nd against his lone Torchic. He seems to know that I was using Exploud and kept the number of Pokemon in play to a minimum. I played Desert Ruins right away and searched for a Whismur. He countered my Desert Ruins with Ancient Tomb! I didn't expect that. I was panicking for a bit and then decided my strategy to go all the way against his "chickens". I managed to get a turn 2 Exploud and did Breaking Sound to his lone Torchic (I couldn't get a Boost). He pulled a turn 3 Blaziken on me to boot. [I forgot how exactly he got the first early Blaziken - through Rare Candy or Combusken.] He puts in another Torchic into play and Rare Candied to Blaziken ex. He Fire Streamed my Exploud for 50. I did Breaking Sound again. He Fire Streamed again and made it 100. Good thing that I had my Loudred ready on the Bench. I simply Mr. Briney's and make a new Exploud and did 30 more to Blaze ex (50 total). He got a Dunsparce and he VAshed my Exploud for a 100. I retreated Exploud, evolved Wyanut to Wobbuffet, and did Ancient TM Rock on his Blaze ex, and KOed his Torchic underneath. He did Ancient TM Rock with his Combusken (?) and KOed my Loudred underneath my Exploud. All I remember at that point was that it was a close game and I can get one more Exploud out for the game. I did and I KOed some of his weak Pokemon sitting on his bench for the win.

WIN 4-1-0 12pts.

Round 6: vs. Gardy
He had a very bad start with a lone Wobbuffet. I set up a turn 2 Exploud and really crushed all his Pokemon (like a Wyanut, Ralts, and a Kirlia).

WIN 5-1-0 15pts.

Round 7: vs. Blaze
I simply IDed into Top 16. We played for fun anyways. He got a 1st turn TA's Manectric with Archie, and got all he wanted with his Dunsparce. I only had a Wyanut. I got more Wyanuts and Wobbuffets, but that didn't help me, as he got a turn 2 Blaziken and pounded me very hard. By the time I got to my first Exploud, it was only 2 prizes to go for him. VAsh finished off my Exploud and essentially the game.

DRAW 5-1-1 16pts.

Top 16: vs. Gardy
It was a best 2 out of 3 games match.

Game 1: I only had a Wobbuffet to start and he went first with a Corsola. His card advantage totally tore my deck apart - plus an oversight of his Ralts with Link Blast. He OHKO my Wobbuffet on his turn 3. No chance at all. By the time I got an Exploud going, he's almost done netting to 6 prizes.

LOSS 5-2-1

Game 2: I had a much better start with Wyanut and Whismur and went first. It was a long game, but Desert Ruins really brought down Gardy ex, and I kept the prize advantage and momentum until the very end.

WIN 6-2-1

Game 3: Shortest game ever. He went first with a Ralts - Pound. I started with a Wyanut and searched for a Whismur. Next turn, he Rare Candied his Ralts to Gardevoir and Energy Blast. Game over.

LOSS 6-3-1

I had rotten luck on games 1 and 3. However, the oversight of his Ralts with Link Blast in game 1 was a huge mistake on my behalf. It would have at least given me more time and a chance to do something if I were to lose.

Overall, I'm happy with this deck. I will make some changes to this deck to make it stronger. I decided this report will be final. I appreciate any suggestions and changes for my deck/strategy.

It was a great event. I had so much fun with the GBA 2-on-2 tournament (I missed out the 1-on-1).
I will remember this memorable South Stadium Challenge experience for a long while.

THE END
