Kyle Theaker's Deck Garage
Blaze!!

7.04.05

Well, it’s finally happened, readers.  Your favorite Deck Mech, Kyle has lost his mind.

Hello, everybody.  I’m finally back.  First off, I’d like to apologize for my long absence.  I’d also like to comment on the trade for the Treecko * that I mentioned in my last article.  In that article, I stated that my friend was given 2 terrible ex cards.  I was shown how terribly wrong I was when my friend trampled me with one of those “garbage cards”.  I’m still annoyed about how I was attacked to trade back that Treecko though…

Well anyway, I have some bad news for all of my readers.  I’m going to be absent for the next two weeks.  Don’t expect any fixes during those two weeks.  Now, for the good news.  Since I’m going to be gone and out of commission, I decided to make myself useful and fix EVERY SINGLE DECK IN MY INBOX.  That’s right, for the next 2 weeks, I’ll be doing a fix every single day.  That should keep you content until I return.  Although I’ll be gone, continue to submit decks, ‘cause I plan to jump right back into things when I get back.

Today’s fix is the ever-popular, soon to be obsolete (in Modified) Blaze deck!  It comes from tb90@comcast.net.

Hello I am a Devoted PKMN fan and here is my deck I need help with:

FYI(Modified only)

[1] TM's Houndoom

[2] TM's Houndour

[1] Macargo(DX[Smooth Over])

[2] Slugma(DX[Collet])

[2] Blaziken(RS[Firestater])

[1] Blaziken ex

[3] Combusken(2 DRA/1 RS)

[3] Torchic(RS)

[1] Camerupt(DX)

[2] Numel(RS)

[2] Linoone(RS)

[2] Zigzagoon(SS)

[1] Furret(TRR)

[2] Sentret(TRR)

[2] Wally's Training(SS)

[2] Rocket's Mission(TRR)

[3] Celio's Network(FRLG)

[1] Ancient Tomb(HL)

[2] Copycat(TRR)

[2] Warp Point(TMvTA)

[2] PKMN Retriver(TRR)

[20] Fire Energy

As many of you know, there are two routes that you can take with Blaze decks.  You can go straight Fire, or you can take the Rayquaza ex route.  Since I just did a Fire deck fix, I’m going to take the Dragon path.  This being said, there really is no room for extraneous Fire Pokémon, so we have to drop them.

- TM Houndoom Line

- Magcargo Line

- Camerupt Line

- Furret Line

- Blaziken Line (Just kidding!)

- Linoone Line

Now we’re going to want to strengthen the Blaziken family.  I’m going to recommend adding a Torchic and Blaziken.

+ 1 Torchic

+ 1 Blaziken

Since this deck is focused around Rayquaza ex, we need to add a couple.

+ 2 Rayquaza ex

Now that we’ve got the centre of the deck established, we’re going to toss in the cards that help bring that Blaziken out.  We’ll start with 4 Dunsparse (SS).  This card is a near-staple card in Modified format.

+ 4 Dunsparse (SS)

Now the road forks again.  You can run Pidgeot or you can run Energy Draw Delcatty and Team Aqua’s Magnectric.  We’ll focus on the kitties.

+ 2 Skitty (Minor-Errand Running)

+ 2 Delcatty (Energy Draw)

+ 2 Team Aqua’s Electrike (Self-Charge)

+ 2 Team Aqua’s Magnectric

There, the Pokémon line should be fine now.  The trainers need some work, though.

I’m going to scrap everything and start off fresh.

4 TV Reporters helps draw power and puts Fire energy into the discard pile.

4 Celio’s Network gets you the Pokémon you need when they’re needed.

3 Rare Candy help your Blaziken hit the field.

2 Switch shuffle your Pokémon around until they’re where they need to be.  Alternately, 2 Warp Point may be used.

2 High-Pressure system counter other harmful stadiums.

1 ATM Rock and 1 Strength Charm are obvious additions.

I’m also going to readjust the energy to accommodate Rayquaza.

12 Fire

3 Lightning

3 Multi

There we go!  All finished.  Your final deck should look like this:

Pokémon: 25

[4] Torchic (Pick any one)

[3] Combusken (Your choice)

[3] Blaziken (Don’t even ask)

[1] Blaziken ex

[4] Dunsparse (SS)

[2] Team Aqua’s Electrike (Self Charge)

[2] Team Aqua’s Magnectric

[2] Skitty (Minor Errand Running)

[2] Delcatty (Energy Draw)

[2] Rayquaza ex

Trainers: 17

[4] Celio’s Network

[4] TV Reporter

[3] Rare Candy

[2] Switch/Warp Point

[2] High-Pressure System

[1] Ancient Technical Machine [Rock]

[1] Strength Charm

Energy: 18

[12] Fire

[3] Lightning

[3] Multi

There you go, enjoy your shiny, new deck.
