Do you HAVE to have grass? If not, I'd recommend going
mono-fire--in an environment where everyone else is
probably playing fire/grass/colorless, mono-fire will
clean house. By the way, your Venomoth trick won't
work. Changing Venomoth's Type does NOT change its
weakness--the only reason to change type is to inflict
double damage (or to get around resistance, if there
was anything resistant to grass.) This is
understandably confusing for many people. Just
remember that in the TCG, the type and weakness are
not necessarily directly related.

1) No reason to apologize for Arcanine. In fact, he's
so good, let's run him 4-3 if possible. You also get
points with me for Fossil Magmar. Your Grass Pokemon
are substantially less good. Drop Tangela like a hot
potato. He's not that great in the first place, and in
an environment where there is guaranteed to be fire,
he's not even worth thinking about. Venomoth is okay,
because those status effects will ruin even a Fire
Pokemon's day (and I'm speaking from personal
experience here.) An idea would be to rip out the
entire grass half of the deck and put in 4-3-2
Nidoking, but it's not imperative to do so.

2) Your trainers look very good. Some of them are
confusing me, though. 3 PlusPower? Take out one of
them. Ditto for the GOWs. I don't like Item Finder
that much in this type of deck. You can leave them in
if you want, but I'd rather have another Bill and
another ER.

3) Energy for this deck needn't be very complicated.
You're right about Arcanine needing more fire energy,
but I'd try to put still more energy of both types in.
Try at least 14 fire energy.

You need the extra energy to feed that hungry
Arcanine. The deck looks pretty good now. Try to keep
3 or 4 fire energy on Arcanine at all times--that way,
if you don't draw any fire energy, you can drop a
grass if necessary and then scoop a few prizes with
Take Down. Once again, if you *can* play mono-fire at
this tournament, it would probably be best to do so,
sticking in Ninetales, Rapidash, or somebody like
that.
