Subject: Deck Fix, Martins mansion. Tyranitar/Steelix
Hey Martin,

My deck is called Savior's End, I fixed my deck up for the new Modified format (neo on) and was wondering if you could fix it up for me. P.S. could you tell me if you know of any tournaments in Canada. Thanks! DCI Personal Statistics

Savior's End

Pokemon (19)

3 Larvitar (Destiny)
2 Pupitar (Discovery)
2 Tyranitar (Discovery)
1 Unown D
3 Onix (SI)
2 Steelix
2 Cleffa
1 Igglybuff
1 Qwilfish
2 Gligar (Genesis)

Trainers (21)

4 Professor Elm
4 Balloon Berry
3 Focus Band
2 Counterattack Claws
2 Pokemon Breeder Fields
2 Gold Berry
2 Pokemon Trader (Legendary)
1 Double Gust
1 Sprout Towe
r

Energy (20)

8 Fighting
4 Darkness
4 Recycle
2 Metal
2 Full Heal

The main Strategy for this deck is to get out Gligar, Qwilfish (great against Big fire decks) or Onix out to Stall until I can get out Steelix or Tyranitar. I use Pokemon Trader to get the strong basics out fast and Poke Breeder Fields to get the Stage 1 and 2's out.  Sprout Tower works well because I have no colorless guys who do damage, but if you can think up a better Stadium card for this deck I would appreciate it.

Thanks Martin, Andrew!

Welcome back to The Mansion. I took kind of a break, but I am back in business!

Pokémon

Nice to see a cool original concept such as this. First of all, you have to fix your Tyranitar line. a 3-2-2 line isn't really going to be consistent. Change it to something like 4-4-3. We will make room shortly. The Steelix line also needs to be heightened. Change it to 3/3.

Get rid of the Quilfish, the Igglybuff, and the Gligars. They serve not a real purpose here. I really like Tyrogue in the MMF format, it fits in many decks real easily. You can afford to play 2 in here.

Trainers

This is where most of the fixing needs to go. Balloon Berry isn't exactly needed here. Sure, your main attackers have heavy retreats, but your not going to actually evolve them until you can pay for their heavy attacks, which voids an option for your opponent needlessly gusting a heavy hitter into the active position for stall.

Counterattack claws are Counterproductive ("I don't get it"). You play Focus band and Gold Berry already, that's all the tools you really need. Pokemon Breeder fields is a good card, but are nothing compared to the usefulness of Pokemon Trader which gives you the guaranteed Pokemon.

Next, add 4 Bill. They are a necessity in any New Modified deck also, since there is little draw power in the format. Drop that sprout Tower for an Eco Gym, Kingdra is nasty if it gets fully powered.

Lastly, I made some space for some more Pokemon Traders which are great getting evolution out.

Energy

8 Fighting
4 Darkness
4 Recycle
2 Metal
2 Full Heal

Drop the 2 full heal for 2 more metal, you need 4 since your playing steelix.

2 Recycle got taken out to make room for the bills, and I dropped a fighting.

The energy amounts are significantly lower, but it will work.

Pokemon (23)

4 Larvitar (Destiny)
4 Pupitar (Discovery)
3 Tyranitar (Discovery)
1 Unown D
3 Onix (SI)
3 Steelix
3 Cleffa
2 Tyrogue

Trainers (20)

4 Professor Elm
3 Pokemon Trader (Legendary)
4-Bill
3 Focus Band
2 Gold Berry
3 Double Gust
1 Eco Gym

Energy (17)

7 Fighting
4 Darkness
2 Recycle
4 Metal

Well, there you go. You may notice my disinclusion of Time Capsule, but since everyone else is playing it, that can benefit you in 2 ways.

1) 1 more deck spot for you
2) You get the advantage out of their capsule regardless.

It really won't help too much anyway since you play a lot of nonbasic energy.

Good luck with this deck.
