VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix. Vulpix? [How did this deck get
in here? I mean, it's bad, but not hideous. We've had
worse, that's for sure. At least it has multiples of a
few good trainers and enough overall energy.]

SPIKE: Actually, it was because he claimed that luck
worked for him. Call it sadistic of me, but that's one
of the main reasons this deck gets bashed. Having
crappy evolution pyramids because you don't know any
better is one thing, but anybody attempting to justify
them must be nailed to the wall.

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix. [Um, yeah, you'd need luck to
play something like this and get away with it.]

SPIKE: None of his Pokemon choices are bad in and of
themselves, but he's somehow managed to screw them up
one way or another. His Muk evolution is the only one
with a greater number of basics than evolutions--and
you just know he'd put another Muk in if he had room.

VULPIX: Vulpix. Vulpix vulpix! [He cunningly managed
to negate Venusaur's Power by putting it in the same
deck with Muk. Of course, it's debatable whether it
really matters, since he'd have to have a truckload of
"luck" to see Venusaur in the first half of the game
anyway.]

SPIKE: Actually, I'll bet his "luck" actually comes in
the form of little kids who don't understand Muk's
power.

VULPIX: Vulpix. [Even I think that was uncalled-for.]

SPIKE: Well, I'm sorry. What do you expect me to say?
I mean, this guy basically claims that anything can
work for him because of luck! Friend, if luck works
for you as you say, then why bother with all these
evolutions?? Just run a deck with 4 Geodude, because
obviously you're going to draw all four of them in
your starting hand, and once you get them loaded you
can just flip an infinite number of heads and mow down
anything in your path. Why bother with Oaks or Pokemon
Traders--if you're lucky, Gamblers and Pokeballs are
better aren't they?

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix? [Bitter much?]

SPIKE: NO! I'M NOT BITTER! I'M JUST VERY FRUSTRATED!!
I'm frustrated because, among other things, I can
never make it to Pokemon League anymore due to chess
tournaments. I really need to play against someone
besides my brother and sister. Which brings me to
another point. This guy won't go to tournaments
because he wants to sleep in on Saturdays. Instead he
goes to Pokemon League--where the competition is, to
put it delicately, less intense than at tournaments.
I'd love to be able to play in tournaments on a
regular basis. Buddy, after almost a year of getting
up at 7:00 AM (5:30 AM on school days) you begin to
appreciate how LATE most tournaments start.

VULPIX: Vulpix...vulpix. [Okay...I think someone needs
to take a deep breath, have a nice glass of leftover
eggnog, and then go on a walk until he calms down.]

SPIKE: Sorry...I'll be good, I promise. The skin
grafts are still itching from the last time things got
out of hand. Maybe it's best if we just move on to
another deck.

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix. [You might not feel that way
when you see the next deck.]
