SPIKE: Hey, Vulpix, there's a guy here who wants you
to help me fix his deck.

VULPIX: (yawns) Vulpix vulpix. [I hope you told him
where he could shove it.]

SPIKE: That's not very nice of you. Come on. He's a
fan of yours. I guess he enjoyed the comments you made
about all those crappy decks.

VULPIX: Vulpix. [No. Now go away and let me sleep.]

SPIKE: He said you were adorable.

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix! [What are we waiting for? Show
me the deck!]

1) Excellent selection of Pokemon. I think you're the
first person to have purely Fossil ghosts in a deck
without me having to yell at you a lot. For that, you
get a prize--a First Edition Charizard! Unfortunately,
Vulpix ate it (he loves those things) but I've got a
Bellsprout you can have if that'll make you feel
better. Normally I recommend more than one Chansey for
Damage Swap, but you've put in the Kangaskhans, which
serve a triple purpose--card drawing, hitting, and
receiving swapped damage. So we're good. The one thing
that isn't so great is the Mewtwo. He doesn't really
fit in with the deck theme, and I think you'd do
better with another Mime. Card slots are gonna be a
problem in this deck, what with two Stage 2 families,
but I think we can make it work. We may take out the
third Mime and Chansey in the end if we get really
needy. Finally--yes, you do need another Abra. But
that's fairly easy to fix, yes?

VULPIX: Vulpix vul vulpix! Vulpix!! [Great deck! But
you need some Vulpixes. At least 3, maybe 4. And some
Ninetales too!]

SPIKE: Um, Vulpix, it's a mono-psychic deck.

VULPIX: Vulpix? [And your point would be?]

2) Trainers is where this deck gets really tight. Your
Pokemon are eating up one hell of a lot of space, so
less room for trainers. We're going to have to make
some serious energy cuts later on, but for right now
let's just see where our trainer adventure takes us.
You need to cut at least one Pokemon Breeder, possibly
two. I know you need to get those Stage 2's as quickly
as possible, but with ways to search for the
evolutions and a solid pyramid, plus plenty of card
drawing (we'll get to that in a minute) you shouldn't
have that many problems. Leave it at 2 for right now.
We need more Oaks and such, but I have no idea where
the heck we're going to find them. Mmm...I REALLY hate
to do this. Try and sneak in 3 Bills, which you really
need, and another Computer Search. Possibly another
Oak as well. This leaves us with no room whatsoever
for Energy Removal, normally one of my favorites. This
leaves you without an important way to wreck your
opponent's strategy. I believe that you can work
around this loss if you play this deck carefully and
make good use of your own strategy. Oh, one other
thing you need...*damn* GOWs! Have you ever thought of
how badly Muk is going to wreck this deck? If you have
a Gust or two, you can whisk Muk from his safe haven
on the bench and own up on his psychic-weak butt.
Fitting them in is going to be painful, though. Rather
than drop still more energy, let's...um...take out
Chansey, since he serves no purpose other than taking
damage, which the Kangas can do well enough. Maybe a
Mime if we get desperate. NOW do you people understand
why I hate trying to put two Stage 2's in the same
deck?

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix! Vulpix! [This deck would have
done better with only one of the themes. There are so
many specialized trainers that you need in Damage Swap
that it eats up the space pretty fast.]

SPIKE: I know. But it's not really our place to tell
him that. At least, I don't think it is, though some
of the other deck mechanics might.

VULPIX: Vulpix. [Actually, um...we just did tell him
that.]

SPIKE: Oh, well. Moving onward...

3) As you may have noticed, we're having to drop a
LOAD of energy in order to make room for everything
else that has to go in. As long as it comes out at 20
or above, you should be okay. Wish we had room for
Retrieval, but that can't be helped. I still don't
think it's worth having Mewtwo, but I haven't been
playing with this deck, so if he works well for you,
leave him in!

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix vulpix. [I have to admit that
the thought of trying to play with 20 energy and no
Retrieval sends chills up and down my spine.]

SPIKE: That's just a psychological thing. All you fire
Pokemon have this overwhelming fear of being without
energy.

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix. [I'm thinking of starting a
support group.]

This deck is very tight. Everything has to go off
right. You didn't tell me how your deck was doing, but
if it was doing badly, I hope it does better. If it
was doing badly and still does badly, think about what
your shortcoming seems to be and perhaps consider
dropping one Stage 2 in order to focus on one theme.
If it was doing good and starts doing badly...eesh.
Write me, tell me what the problem seems to be, and
I'll fix it. This goes for anybody! I need
feedback--if your deck craps out after I fix it, talk
it over with me. I'm not infallible, and if there's
something that I'm doing wrong, I need to know. By the
same token, maybe you're playing the deck wrong, and I
can try to help you with that.

VULPIX: Vulpix? [Am I done?]

SPIKE: Yes, but don't doze off quite yet. There's
another deck that your assistance has been requested
on.

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix? [Did the deck's owner call me
adorable?]

SPIKE: No. But he put the Ninetales family in his
deck, and it looks pretty solid.

VULPIX: Vulpix vulpix. [Oh, all right.]

And finally, psychic resistance is also going to kill
this deck. There just literally was not enough space
to work around this. All I can say is to try Kadabra
and Kangaskhan until you've got enough damage on the
defender for Mime to work through the resistance.
