Charizard, in the right deck with the right supporting cards, is NOT bad. *waits for flame mail* ;)

In all honesty, Charizard has a lot of redeeming factors that make him decent. The reason why people don't like him is how expensive his attack is by having to discard 2 energy. If it wasn't for this, he'd be in a lot more decks. It is quite obvious you like Charizard, so I'm not going to tell you you shouldn't play with him. Instead, let's try to get the right cards to support him. We do have one problem with your submission, you don't have nearly enough basic pokemon in your deck. So, we'll try to get some more put in. You want to go with a fire/psychic theme, so the obvious suggestions are Mr. Mime and Movie MewTwo, we'll choose Mr. Mime because of the Alakazam damage-swap secondary theme. You also probably want another fire pokemon... how about Fossil Magmar? Let's see what it might look like.

Pokemon (15 Basic + 8 Evols = 23 Total):
4 Charmander
3 Charmeleon
2 Charizard
4 Magmar (Fossil)
3 Abra
2 Kadabra
1 Alakazam
2 Mr. Mime
2 Chansey

Magmar is perfect for your starting pokemon, get it out and start hurting your opponent while you get Chansey setup for stalling and Abra/Charmander out to start your evolution series for each. Let's prepare our energy next. We don't need much psychic energy. Alakazam is useful for his power, not for attacking and Mr. Mime is the same way. But, the occasional Meditate is very useful, plus Charizard can always burn the psychic into fire. So, here's a mixture of 20 basic and 4 double colorless energy that should work for you.

Energy (20 Basic + 4 DCE = 24 Total):
15 Fire
5 Psychic
4 Double Colorless Energy

Finally, trainers. And this is what will make or break a deck with Charizard in it. You need to have a solid mix, or you'll never be able to get out the energy you need or the evolutions. We've got only (60 - 23 - 24 = 13) 13 slots left for trainers, so it will be tight.

Trainers (13 Total):
4 Bill
2 Gambler
2 Pokemon Trader
3 Pokemon Center
2 Gust of Wind

Best of luck to you. And may the char be with you.
