I do like this deck. I like this deck a lot. Does
anybody else notice something that he didn't mention
in the strategy? All of his Pokemon (well, all of his
final forms) have free retreat! Woohoo!

1) I agree, Golbat is underrated. Plus, he helps you
split your weakness between fire and psychic. I do
think that 20 Pokemon is a bit much...especially since
we really ought to add another Weedle. But it's OK--I
already see where we can make some big cuts later on.
Other than the Weedle, I really don't think we need to
do anything here. We could drop Venomoth...but I
really cringe at doing that, so let's just leave him
as-is.

2) Well, you certainly seem to have drawn your
trainers from my standard recommendations. Good on
you. I was a bit leery of the PlusPowers, but I know
that they can help out in many situations...there
always seems to be a Pokemon out there with 10 more HP
than your biggest attack. Still, why don't you drop
one of them (3 should be enough) to make room for that
aforementioned Weedle.  The SER's look good, and your
reason for using them is sound. Why don't you try and
fit a couple more of them (or regular ER, but SER
should be fine) and drop a couple of energies.
Actually, why not drop a couple more energies (to 18
grass) and run a couple of Retrievals instead. This
tends to be a somewhat more efficient system, even in
a mono-color deck.

3) As I've already said...with so much usage of DCE,
you ought to be able to cut your colored energy just a
bit. You could even drop one more for a fourth DCE.
But I'd advise you to hold off a bit and see how it
plays both ways before you make a decision on this.

Hmm...you are still weak to fire. Somewhere down the
road, you may want to think about replacing one of
your fire-weak families with something else in order
to combat this, but then you'd probably lose your
ever-so-delicious free retreating. Maybe one of the
bird families--hmm! Fearow looks good.  At any rate,
this deck is looking pretty good as it is. Still a few
energy problems, but nothing insurmountable, and those
two Retrieval will probably help more than the
energies you'd otherwise be running in their place. If
I may borrow an analogy from Magic for a moment,
Retrieval is kind of like a spellshaper--you can take
a card in your hand, which might be otherwise useless,
and use it to do something useful--in this case, get
energy.
