This deck definitely has potential, but there's a
couple of things wrong. The main thing that hops to
mind at first glance is that you have only 8 trainers.
That is bad. Let's see if we can't help you create
some more space.

1) You can drop the Hitmonlees straight off. They're
just redundant and not that good in this particular
deck. Next drop an Eevee so your evolution family will
be more streamlined. There are plenty of good Fire
Pokemon that could work well here, but Flareon will be
a fine choice, especially since its Quick Attack will
be useful against fire-weak types while you are
charging it up. Next, you may want to drop a
Hitmonchan and put in another Magmar. This way your
colors will be more balanced. That should be about
all--you haven't made any bad choices, and there's
nothing that I feel compelled to add. Your Magmars ARE
Fossil, right?

2) Here's where your deck needs the work. We've
already made some space, and we'll make more in just a
second. Take out the Energy Search and the Potions.
Now add in at least 2 more Bills, 2 Oaks, 2 Computer
Searches, and 4 Energy Removals. I find these to be
the backbone of any good deck. You didn't say what
kind of deck your wife is running, so I don't know if
there are any specialized trainers you want to beat
her. Another Switch is always nice, though--especially
since some of your retreat costs are kind of high.

3) 27 energy is too much. Cut a substantial amount of
fighting energy and try to bring the total to around
24. If you have problems with energy, slip in some
Retrieval. My own favorite method for getting energy
is to simply Oak for it. If you don't have an Oak when
you need it, use Computer Search to go get one.

Adding up my suggestions, I found 59 cards, so I stuck
in another Bill. Never hurts.

That's about it. Have a good time =)
