Victini (Legendary Treasures)

Oh no! It’s the return of that pesky Victini AKA ‘Fliptini’! Originally printed in Noble Victories, and absent from the format for all of three months, he has returned to annoy us with his army of flip-attack friends!

Except that most of those friends, especially the good ones, have now left the format (sorrynotsorry). Strip Bare Sharpedo TM and Double Freeze Vanilluxe NVI where the two most prominent Fliptini partners and they are no longer available in Modified. I guess you still have Doom Decree Gothitelle DRX and . . . ummmmm . . .Continuous Tumble Chansey DEX if you wanted to have some fun with Fliptini, but there isn’t anything on offer that can abuse him to quite the same extent as there was prior to the rotation.

That’s the thing about this card really: it’s a combo piece for flip-dependent decks. The better the flip attack cards are, the better this Victini will be. Right now isn’t the best time for him, but he may well get his chance again in the future.

Modified: 3 (he’ll be good again at some point)

Limited: 3 (there a few flip cards in the set that could work with him)

Good old "Fliptini" is back, lending a hand to all sorts of silly casual decks worldwide. The fact is, Pokemon requiring coin flips to be good are rarely competitively viable and making them slightly less unreliable isn't going to help. This Victini is a simple but imaginative card though and if you really want to play a Darmanitan (Next Destinies) deck, you may as well throw one in.

If your sealed pool didn't come with a nice Big Basic or 2, has a load of coin-flip cards and happens to play Fire energy you may as well play Victini and at least try to have some fun!

Unlimited 150:

An unfortunate victim of the U150 "ex-ing" rule, Victini takes one for the team to keep other more unbalanced cards in check. The other, actual Victini EX is fairly decent in the format but no one really wants a 60 HP ex, even if it is going to bench sit. If you really want to play some gimmicky coin-flip deck the option to use this card is still there though, albeit with the additional risk.

(Regardless of low ratings, it is a really fun card!)
