Latios
										(Dragon Vault)

Oops! Looks like there was something we
forgot in our reviews of Dragon Vault,
so welcome to a week in which we kick
off with the male half of the Eon Duo,
										Latios.
Because they come as a pair, the
										Latis are
										often given effects which complement
each other (i.e.: you need both of them
										in play). Very occasionally, this
actually works and you get the
										PokéBody
										locking Dual Aura of
										Latias δ.
										Usually
though, it’s just some minor gimmicky
thing that is never worth the effort.

										Latios
is a Basic Dragon Type Pokémon with 100
HP, and a retreat cost of one. None of
those things are actually terrible, but
at the same time, I think we are all
aware that there are other Basics that
offer better stats with the same typing
										(such as Kyurem
										and Rayquaza
from the same set). So, unless
										Latios can
offer something special when it comes to
his attacks, he is going to find it
almost impossible to get out of the
										binder.

										Sky Blade, Latios’
first attack is the one that requires
										Latias to be
										on the Bench. Without
										Latias it
does a pathetic 20 damage for
										one Water and
one Energy of any Colour. With
										Latias, that
gets pumped up to an utterly
underwhelming 40. Yes, that’s right: you
										need two Energy
and another Basic benched just to do
that. I’m not sure I need to comment any
further on that, or explain exactly why
it’s bad. Same goes for the
										ironically-named Speed Wing, really. An
attack cost of Psychic and two
Colourless doesn’t seem all that speedy
to me, and the pay off of 60 points of
										vanillish
damage is most definitely not worth the
										wait.

										The Eon Duo are
										binder candy only, I’m afraid. It’s a
										good job the artwork is
										prettyful.

										Rating

										Modified: 1.25 (use the
										Latis
together and your reward is . . . some
										horribly underpowered attacks)

										Limited: N/A (mini set)
