Today's card of the day is another new card from Rising Rivals, as keeping in touch with the theme this week. Today's is the favored Pokemon of Wake, I mean Crahser Wake, Floatzel!

Floatzel GL's personal stats aren't too shabby, but not outstanding. 80 HP is middle of the row for SP-Pokemon, and since many people are foreseeing Luxray GL beocming a big deck, the x2 weakness to Lightning isn't the best. No resistance is average, same with its 1 retreat cost.

Floatzel GL's first attack is Incite, and, for no energy, you can pick up two supporter cards from the discard pile. This attack can be sued to get back useful Bebe's, Roseanne's, or, if you're running a Rotom deck, Charons.

Floatzel GL's other attack is pretty mediocre. Giant Wave does 50 for two Water Energy, but you can't use it the next turn. Unless you could set up a revolving door with Floatzel using Mantine (MT), this will be more of a desperation attack.

Modified 3/5
Not good, but not bad. I want to see the Level X before I make up my mind.
Limited 4/5
There are a lot of good supporters in Rising Rivals, and Floatzel can be splashed into any deck to retrieve them.

Well, really you would play this for the LV X, but that is not what I am reviewing ;)

Incite seems to be a useful attack for no Energy, getting you 2 Supporters back from the Discard into your hand. Unfortunately, this isn’t much good early game as you are unlikely to have the discarded Supporters to recover. In the mid-to-late game you really need to be doing some damage.

Giant Wave is ok, doing 50 for 2 Water Energy. Shame you can’t use Energy Gain with it.

The retreat cost of one is ok. Lightning Weakness isn’t going to be much fun when Rising Rivals is released as there will be a lot of Luxray and Raichu around.

Modified: 2 (not bad while you wait for the LV X)

Limited: 3 (if you actually pull one of the Supporters in Rising Rivals, then being able to re-use it will be great)
