70 HP Pokemon that lets you on every turn get energy from your discard pile to your hand. I can think of a LOT of decks that could be helpful in!!! Especially when it does not limit you to fire energy…get where I am going here? Leafeon, Blastoise, a lot of decks give you an extra energy attachment advantage if you have the excess energy in your hand.

Is it worth a bench space??? Um…well…not so sure.

If it had great other stats, let’s see…

Weakness to water, OK. Free retreat cost…well, we just have another reason to use it. Free retreat is a great attribute that keeps cards like Crobat and Chatot on the board…could work here too!!!

Attack 1 for 20. Not great. Maybe in the days of base set, but not great.

Ratings…

Modified 2.5/5 Can see it as helpful but not necessary or game-breaking.

Limited.2/5..Once again, good but not over the top.

Has to be considered a tech card, but not an elite one.

More talk about SV next week I hope!! The HYPE is coming!!!

Rapidash 4

Did we save the best till last this week?

Nope.

Rapidash 4 is really a set-filler card with no use at all as far as I can tell. It does have a no Energy attack which would be great early game but . . . it’s a flippy get-Energy-from-the-Discard attack and, well, early game you are not likely to need that (or have any Energy in the Discard either). Its other attack is a vanilla 20 damage for [R]. No effect and nothing to make you want to play this card.

Couple all of that to low-ish 70 HP and X2 Water Weakness, and you have a pretty useless Pokémon. At least it has free retreat, which is a bonus as you would never really want something this terrible as your active Pokémon.

There are many, many better cards. There isn’t a single reason to use this.

Ratings

Modified: 1 (why? Just why?)

Limited: 1 (still no reason to run it)

Ok, that’s my reviews finished for a while. I’ll be back after Worlds. I hope you can all get to a prerelease for the next set. There are some very nice cards in the set and it will be interesting to see what new decks people will be playing next season.

Wish me luck!
