Jigglypuff13 9/1 Tropical Wind (DP Promo 48)

Hello, and welcome to the continuation of our Promo week here, and we continue with one this years World Championships promo, it's Tropical Wind! It's a strange card. It's effect makes you flip a coin. If heads, you remove 2 Damage Counters from each active Pokémon (yours and your opponents), and if tails, each active is Asleep (both yours and your opponents). It's not worth talking about really. If heads, unless the 20 damage means nothing since you'll end up KOing your opponents Pokémon even with the healing or they are at full health, then it could backfire, and if you really need the healing, there's always Potion, and even then, what is the point. If tails, then you are stopping your Pokémon attacking (unless you can switch it or evolve it or level it up) and possibly stopping your opponent from attacking. If you want to make all active Pokémon Asleep, why not try Wigglytuff (GE)?

Ratings:

Modified: There's not a lot to say. If you need the healing, Potion should do nicely (and what on Earth would you use that in the first place?), and if you need the Sleep, why not go with Wigglytuff (GE), possibly also with Xatu (SW). There is no reason every to use this card. 1/5

Limited: Oh this format would be hilarious. N/A

Tropical Wind Promo

Tropical Wind is a card that is given out to Worlds competitors (you get one in every language printed in a very nice binder!), and to the staff and judges at Worlds. That makes it a pretty rare card.

So, should everyone be rushing to eBay to see if they can track some of these down for their decks at great expense?

You will be relieved to hear that the answer is ‘no’.

A coin flip to remove two damage counters from both active Pokémon (yours and your opponent’s), with both Pokémon asleep if you flip tails? Ummm . . . if a card is actually not even as good as Potion, I think it is safe to say that you can live without it. You could play it in a deck that likes to put Pokémon to sleep (such as most Darkrai-based decks) but even then, there are better and more reliable ways to achieve this (Wigglytuff GE).

Basically, if you EVER see Tropical Wind in a deck, then you know the person who is playing is an incredible show-off.

As a collectible, it is great, as a playable card in the TCG . . . not so much.
